Doom layout

Got an older gent with very slow ball speed, low track, decent rotation. Decided to put him in a Doom. Problem : has had a lot of balls roll out on him. Last was a Hot Rod pro stock pearl that had a 1 3/4" pin drilled pin below ring and cg stacked. He originally wanted me to plug and redrill this one but with 3 1/2 top weight and so short a pin I talked him into this Doom. Pin is 3" and top is only 1 7/8. I am thinking pin above bridge and even more toward middle finger ( this will be 5 " to axis ). Question is where do I put the cg to help prevent the dreaded roll out he gets. If I put it in label, this will keep breakpoint sharp which is fine as long as it gets down lane first. This ball is also 14 lb to help some with speed. Give me your thoughts please, Thanks, Al

Sounds like you already have your answer made up. Your description sounds pretty logical to me. If I were doing it, I'd go 5x4.75, with the cg tilted toward his axis point, ever so slightly.

This is pretty much the way my own Doom is laid out, and my speed fluctuates between 15 and 16.5mph.

Customer had some guidance..I suggested a weaker ball initially with same drill, but he felt he wanted to still swing the ball, just didn't want rollout. Tough challenge possibly, so I set him up with pin over middle finger (5 1/2 to PAP ) and slanted cg to right which ended up in palm...imaginary MB right of thumb slightly. He bowls tomorrow so we will see and I will update.

Here's what I would suggest.  Place the pin above the bridge or middle finger.  5" to 5 1/2" fro his pap would be good.  Then place the CG on the grip centerline and have zero side weight.  Have him throw it and see what it does.  If the ball still doesn't get down the lane enough for him then buy some delayed reaction polish which is made by Track.  This polish will increase the length of any ball.  It will also tame the back end a small amount.  This polish should do the trick if OOB is not good enough.

Seeing how he is a low tracker and low ball speed type i would of put the pin in the track 6-1/2 0r 7 " away from pap and just kept the cg positve or neutral. Youd be supprised at the amount of natuarl push this layout gives. Him being a low tracker you would have to worry about reverse flare hitting the fingers or thumb unless he is a low tilt spinner then he shouldnt really be rolling out the ball. Just my 2 cents.
