Any idea why they would test (what should be) a light to medium oil ball on a 44 foot long pattern by a high rev tester?
Neither seems to make any sense.

That pattern may be 44 ft but it sure doesn't feel like it when you bowl on it, there isn't a whole lot of oil, but I do agree it doesn't seem like the ideal choice for lane condition.

I think it (using a longer test pattern) makes the ball seem less like their standard medium oil pearl, the Burn. I wonder how close these 2 really are.

Well, they have the same coverstock and the same finish (judging form the FCC scores), so they are probably incredibly close. The only difference is the Raw Hammer Assault Core vs the Vibe Symmetric ("hourglass") core.

Burn 15# - RG (2.48) Diff (0.050)
Midnight 15# - RG (2.51) Diff (.042)

Honestly, if you already own the Burn you probably won't be picking up a Midnight.

And that difference isn't huge.

That seems to make sense.
Does that imply that the Raw series is on the way out?

If you all take a look at the Kegel Patterns. They are only house patterns modded at different lengths. They all play easy....Having run all of their patterns...you simply trying to show how the ball dynamics relate to the average bowlers house shot. The Kegel Main, High, Wall and Easy Street navigation patterns are all easy.

Still seems intended to make mild balls look milder than they really are.

Yes, we do. Otherwise, I'd never have said that.

If you got gut, male or female, keep the shirt tucked in, please, and keep the pants tucked UP.

Could they have used worse angles? Seriously the last one was the only one at all useful for evaluating the ball. That was almost use...

WHat's worse is there's no description of the bowlers' release/delivery specs, there's no description of the oil pattern, and there's no spec of the ball's drilling for each bowler. That makes the whole video 100% worthless. Anyone could be throwing any ball on any condition.
