my black widow blows!!!

I trades two lame one balls for it,drilled with a 4"pin from pap with mb 2" right of thumb and it was a monster.as a matter of fact it was too much for my med. heavy flat shot so I had it pluged and redrilled with a 5" pin from pap and mb 4" right of thumb and now no backend!tried all kinds of cover adjustments but thats not the issue,it's the drill.the ball has  very mild hook roll to it.I polished it and compared it to my intense inferno drilled the same way and the intense has way more backend and continuation the my b.w.what gives?

well I did'nt want the mb that far,my pro shop guy drilled it that way,but to answer you're question YES I must be stupid.thanks for the biotch slap.ohh,and there is no wt.hole.so you think it's burning up? makes some sense to me.I don't have much history with asyemetrical cores.

Six Pack, With asymmetrical balls some ball drillers don't know how to lay them out right.  There stuck with the old school mentality when it comes to drilling.

ASYMMETRICAL BALLS:

Pin position determines amount of track flare.  
Pin height determines has a small effect on length.
MB placement is the number one influence on how soon the ball will get into it's roll.

So if you place the Mb close to your VAL then the ball will get into it's roll early and have less back end.  The farther you place the MB from your VAL the longer it will go before it get's into it's roll.

So when you had the ball 4" pin to pap and the MB 2" right of thumb this caused the ball to flare a lot (PIN) but delayed the roll (MB).  So this caused the ball to be really strong and hard to control.

Then your driller put the Pin 5" to get a little less flare and more length but put the MB closer to your VAL which caused it to get into it's roll earlier.  This earlier roll creates less back end.

You should have placed the pin 5" from your PAP but below the fingers to allow the ball to be a little more smooth and placed the MB 2" right of your thumb.  This would have still allowed for a big back end but the pin position would have smoothed it out a tad bit.

You also could have just knocked the polish off and re-poilshed it with EBONITES MATTE POLISH.  This would have smoothed out the break point to allow for more control.

I hope this helps.  Be careful when you have asymmetrical balls drilled.

I was'nt to happy when I saw the layout he did with this ball.I've read about the mb placement on this ball and told him where I wanted it and still he moved it over to far.how many times can you plug and redrill a ball in the same area?

i believe if the drills are all in the same area (drilling into the plug) it shouldnt affect the ball much.  But 3rd drill and up is really pushing it.

the layout is definately the problem.  

This ball is layout "picky".   A couple inch differnce in the HMB and you would probably love the ball.

I have thrown 2 Epic Sagas, one 2" from my thumb, one 4" from my thumb, both with pin under ring finger.  The one with the Mb closer to my VAL hooks a TON more and all on the backend.  You say there is no weight hole, then by all means give it one.  Go with something to increase flare.  You will get a better reaction.

3rd drill u should be ok do like a 5 and lay it out so mb is about and inch to an inch and a half from thumb max

Not always true.  If the MB is too far from the initial axis, the bowler has high axis rotation or if there isn't sufficient friction, the MB closer to the VAL will hook harder off the spot and also more.  This usually creates a MB angle of 40-60 degrees which creates an overall stronger ball  because of the quicker loss of axis rotation and ball speed.  Not the most angular, but oftentimes stronger overall.  

So it makes perfect since that his Sagas react the way they do.

Thank you.  I was thinking the same thing chitown was when I drilled it with the Mb in the strong, but that turned out to be a weaker drill for THAT ball.  I'm not saying that is the case the majority of the time, just in my case.
