New Toys! Hammer Burn and Onyx Vibe Reviews Updated!
« on: June 27, 2009, 04:24:00 AM »
Just got these in Thurs, had them drilled up and threw them briefly on the Chameleon in my PBAX league. I will throw them this weekend at my tournament and give a full review on Sunday Night. I will compare the Burn to the Psychos  have drilled and the Onyx Vibe to my Emerald Vibe to show the differences in ball reaction. But for now here are some pics of these beauties:

Burn #1 - 5x5, 4000 polished

This ball hooks! I could not get far enough left it seemed with this ball. I finnally got into 35 with my feet, 20-18 at the arrows and 5 down lane in order to get the ball into the pocket the right way and I was still blowing 9 pins! I can see for me this ball is going do need a little carry down in order to work properly, but it is a reaction I diden't have in my bag so I am very happy with it. Compared to my Hot Sauce, its about 3-4 boards stronger overall with a very different backend motion. The Hot Sauce is more controlable for me on my THS, where the Burn seemed to break loose at the end of the pattern. Overall this will be a very useful ball when I need to open up the lane and my Hot Sauce isen't quite making the turn.

Burn #2 - 2x3, 4000 polished

This ball lets me square up in the track area on my THS and play a straighter angle to the pocket, which is something I cant even do with my Rayzr! This Burn stars its move early but makes a very controled reaction on the backend. It dosent give you much mistake room either way, but what I driled it for, shorter sport shots, you cant make too many mistakes. Comaped to my first Burn, this one is about 10 boards weaker overall and about 3 boards weaker than my Rayzr, with a much smoother transition than them both. This is an awesom niche ball with this drilling!

Onyx Vibe - 4x3, 4000 polished

Wow! I find myself saying this every time I drill a new Vibe! This ball absolutly tore my THS up! I was able to get into my comfort zone with this ball and just let it fly. I was 30 with my feet, 12 at the arrows and 3-4 at my break point and this ball just ate it up. Light hits through the pins flying. Flush hits never sounded so good, and, well, the ball just loves tripping 4 pins and send a scout to get the message across to the 9 pin that its time to go away. This ball fits right in between the 2 Burns in total hook and compared to my Emerald Vibe, it has a much smoother move with similar total hook. The 2 Vibes a a great 1-2 punch as when my Emerald starts to push to far I can pull out the Onyx one and get it to read the lane a foot sooner to put me right back into the hole again.

Overall, I am very pleased with these new releases and I cannot wait to get my hands a Sting and a few Jigsaws! I will update with how well these balls work in my PBAX league next Thurs. If you have any questions about these balls, please dont hesitate to ask!

Its a control drilling for me, I use it on fresh sport shots to tame down the backend reaction so I can play a straighter angle to the pocket. With my revs and tilt, I have a hard time controling balls on shorter fresh shots so this drilling evens out the ball motion so it dosent over react off of the end of the pattern.
