Ebonite equivalents for Hammer covers?
« on: December 14, 2006, 07:58:08 AM »
Does anyone have or can point me to that info?

Hammer info on their coverstocks seems  pretty scarce and I thought I might get more insight from Ebonite's coverstock info.  Not that it's much better.

Ebonite and company are pretty stingy with their coverstock info.  At least on their websites that is.

I'm assuming that Hammer's coverstocks are pretty much renamed Ebonite stuff, perhaps slightly altered.  Much like other umbrella companies; Track and AMF with C300 or Roto with Storm for instance.

deadflush,

you are right on. I heard this straight from the horses mouth (ron hickland, hammer/ebonite ball designer). He stated that in no way do hammer and ebonite share covers or cores..

quote:
From what I can gather, even though they are both owned by Ebonite, each maintain their own covers and technology and DO NOT share them.

So, you won't finf the GB covers on any Hammers nor will you find the violent reactive on any Ebonite balls..

Ah, I see.  The introduction for very high grit finishes in the Hammer lines this year made me suspicious.  I didn't realize Hickland was designer for both Ebonite and Hammer ball lines though.

yes ron does both.. He is a super nice guy and used to post on here until some idiots here ran him off for making stupid comments.. You would be hard pressed to find a more knowledgable person about bowling balls than mr hickland..

I miss his posts on here that he used to make.. It was nice having an inside voice around..

The following balls have derivatives of the GB coverstock on them(and this is coming directly from the mouths of employees):

Pain
Widow
N/M
Road Hawg

The formulas aren't identical to ebonites counterparts however, so you can't really say they share the exact same cover.  They do however share this same Oil Absorbtion Rate technology coverstocks.
