No Mercy in Heavy Oil Tournament
« on: April 17, 2007, 05:46:30 AM »
This weekend I bowled in a Heavy oil tournament in Newark New Jersey.  It was more of a crazy sport shot than a heavy oil pattern, very difficult.

The No Mercy actually worked pretty well on this pattern.  It did have a flaw however, and that was using it for the first ball out of my bag.  The No Mercy tended to slide just a bit past it's break point.  The backend handling and carrydown was great with this ball, so I never had a problem with carrydown I just had an issue with the line and it sliding out on me.  I was laying it down at about 13 and sliding it out to 4 for it's break point.  Once the line was created it was great.

My strategy with this ball became obvious, take something out that can pull up the oil for me to create the line, then switch to my No Mercy.  I started with my Morich S&D which handles oil great but struggles with carrydown.  I used that for the first few frames and at the first hint of Carrydown I switched to my No Mercy.  WHAM, great combo.  In team I went 195, 173, 233.  The first 2 games were with my S&D (notice the carrydown in game 2) but my last game was all No Mercy, it had the line from my S&D but handled the carrydown so much better.

In the end, is this a heavy oil ball, definitely not, but if there's a line it can handle carrydown in heavy oil like nothing else!

Hope this helps anyone!
