No Mercy layout close to trick layout?
« on: December 07, 2006, 11:27:07 AM »
So guys, this is my layout on my No Mercy.  For my game and style this ball is great for fresh condition. Great mid read and continuation after the hook.  So what is my layout here?

how is it a trick layout? the hart is reccomended to be in your track, so that means most layouts will be modified lable drills, and i think thats what you have on your hands. my driller has one like that except the pin is under the ring, and its 8 and 5 stronger than his widow... I would assume yours was layed out like this to get down the lane a hair more than the most popular layout.

looks to be somewhere between the #1 and the trick layout shown on buddies pro shop video. Pin above finger should get you down the lane a little further.

Monster, I am not telling you it's the trick layout, I'm asking if it is.  My ball was drilled before the trick layout was placed on the Buddies video.

Buddies calls it a "trick"layout and now there's some trick about it huh?the only "trick" is you did'nt follow the blueprint layout.my driller punched up my n.m. alot like you're ball, maybe have the hart a little more to the left.he did it before the buddies video with the "trick" layout,he has the no mercy door mat and knew what he was doing because the ball is awesome!

I would have loved for my driller to lay my ball out that way, but
a misalignment prevented that.  My pin/cg are almost in the exact
location as the pics, but the heart is below the cg almost
right at the thumb.
At first, I absolutely hated this ball, but I've learned to work w/
it.  I'm not able to turn the ball as quickly, but if I can keep a high
track (almost end over end) the ball still has the advertised hitting
power.  Of course this way takes away takes away a lot of the advertised
hook, but there's still a spot for it in the bag (just need a bigger bag)

clint, that is why I had to wait for my ball driller's 3rd shipment before he found a NM with the correct pin, CG and Hart for my layout.  Geez I think my ball driller likes me

That's a great idea.  If your driller doesn't have the right specs that you want then wait.  If you tell him that you don't want the ball unless it has certain specs then i'm sure he will find the right ball.  He wants the sale.

My center does not even have a pro shop.  I generally order online
and then drive around 60 miles to Atlanta to get it drilled.
I bought the No Mercy from Buddies when they were offering
the $10 off sale so I got it shipped for around $130.
I've generally had pretty good luck purchasing online, but this
time I certainly got burned.  It's seriously got me thinking about
never ordering from an online proshop again.

clint, I don't think you should blame the on-line proshop on this.  This ball should have the correct pin, cg and hart for each individual's layout.  As chitown stated PAP is the major factor here.  I had to wait 3 weeks for my driller's 3rd shipment but it was well worth it.  He had a NM in the 1st shipment that I wanted to drill, perfect begining weight, pin out and top weight.  The problem was the pin, cg and hart didn't and wouldn't work for my layout and roll.  That NM I was told would have been great for a left hander.  So instead of trying to see if this NM would work my driller just told me to wait until I got a perfect one, glad I did.  I think what Hammer did here was yes, layout #1 is the strongest layout and should work for everybody but if all the New Mercy did come out perfect.  I mean each ball had different cg, pin and hart locations. I hope this make sense.

Your layout is exactly how I had "envisioned" myself drilling one (if I ever came up with enough $$ to buy one)...  I just know that I have my best luck (or maybe most usable ball) when I have the pins above the fingers).  How do you like it so far?

Strapper, for my style and release the New Mercy is a monster.  Like I said in another post, I have been bowling for over 20 years now. I have tried many bowling balls and many that do hit hard but there is something about the hit and carry on the New Mercy.  I carry some crazy off hits and when it's solid in the pocket the pins goes straight back.

My ball driller is a great friend of mine, I used to bowl against him for money.  He knows my game and gave me this layout for a strong mid and hard continuation finish on the ball.  Good luck with yours.

I'm not necessarily blaming the pro shop for a misalignment.
Almost everyone of my ball purchases over the last 3 yrs have been
Hammer balls, I've been happy w/ each and everyone has been
from Buddies.

What gets me is the fact that this ball is advertised as a ball
that is basically easy and simple to drill when in fact it's
anything but easy and simple to drill.  Pin placement/cg/heart all
must be in perfect alignment for this ball to work as advertised.
Even so, you have to choose the correct layout to match
your style just like any other ball.  If you choose the wrong layout,
you simply plug/re-drill, play w/ surface, or get rid of it.

I'm certain that if everything is aligned properly this ball is outstanding
and stands out from the rest.  For those of us who have balls w/
pin/cg/heart out of alignment, it's simply just another bowling ball.

I'm suprised that so many balls are out there w/ the pin/cg/heart out of
alignment.  If it's a known fact that these balls don't perform at the
same standards as others, why are they released???
