I'm sure that the folks at Hammer were trying to convey the fact that this ball will give your competition a "beat'n" without any mercy, hence the No Mercy Beat'n.

Now that sound reasonable.

I always loved the expression, "Opening up a can of Whup-A**", if meant figuratively, like "beating the pants off" someone, like "blowing their doors off".

I'm kind of thrown off by what Hammer is actually doing.  They come out with the Black Widow and it's a huge seller.  Then they do the smart thing and come out with the pearl version of the BW which, in turn; will be a huge selling ball.  The No Mercy was also a good selling ball.  One would think they would come out with a pearl version of the NM.  They don't!  They make another ball in the NM line and alter the core a bit.

Now I do expect to see several balls in the NM line.  Now for what throws me off.  Where's the pearl version of the No Mercy?  We have all seen a picture of the No Mercy Violent.  The NMV is the same exact core and a pearlized version of the same cover.  Plus it has a cool name (No Mercy Violent).

I'm sure the No Mercy Beat'n will be a great ball.  I don't doubt that one bit.  However, I was hoping for the pearlized version of the NM to come out.

HAMMER NO MERCY is Un-freaking real!  Using this ball is like cheating!

my guess...and i know it's been said before in this post, is that they'll come out with a pearl no mercy once sales die down a little bit of the BW pearl. Seems like people are going to want BOTH the BW pearl AND the NM Beat'n, and if it was a pearl NM, they'd probably be chosing one or the other.

they probably want to test the market a little bit with the tweaked core before they decide which to put a pearl cover around. makes sense. i agree, it does suck a little that we have to wait even longer for a nm pearl, but imagine what it would be with the new, more length, stronger backend core in it! JMO.

What a stupid name...way to butcher the original ball. Nice going.

I don't know if it's dumb or not. I just want to know what it's supposed to mean? Words and names can be very powerful tools. What is this name supposed to mean to us, the bowlers?

Beats me. I'm just tired of bowling ball companies disgracing the name of a great name for a ball. For example, Track's "Freak". Cool name. Then they butcher it by another ball called "Freak-A-Zoid". STUPID!

Why can't bowling ball companies just release the same ball but alter it here and there like this ball and KEEP THE SAME NAME! All you do is change the color!
What a concept! Hammer should of known this from the Faball days. They didn't rename the "Hammers" and create some stupid sub-genre name of the original, they made a modified version of the ball and changed the color of the coverstock. For example in the 80's and early 90's, they had the Black, Burgandy, Red, Blue, Pink...etc.

So why not just keep the "No Mercy", since it is a name that had grown on us and just change the color to brown, red, blue...whatever and call it a "blue" No Mercy?

I agree that the name seems subpar. There are soo many names that seem to fit better but it will come down to the ball being good it will sell, and it will sell pretty good due to the fact it is following up the No Mercy but the name is horrid.

well lets look back a few,the gas mask core came out with the big blue, not a huge seller.then the B.B.pearl,still not a huge seller.then the big deal, once again no big deal in the sales dpt.now slap the same core in a ball with a spider on the side and everyone wants it.that works so Hammer keeps the same name with the pearl version.for me the widow was either too strong for med and not strong enough for the heavier patterns so I traded mine for a TNV.the no mercy is a great ball for the med-heavy patterns but too much for medium patterns,I was hopeing to see a pearl version but I take it it's not the case with the beat'n.seems they put a rev puck in it and probably a milder cover and were back to the black widow type reaction.I think Hammer has lost focus on the Mercy line, hence the lame name.a particle pearl would have made me very happy but the big E seems to have given up on particle covers for their super soakers, still not the same.I'll look on with intrest but I'm dissapointed in the second release of what has been my favorite ball in the recent past.

I'll give up my NO MERCY when they pry it from my cold dead hands.
