Title: Onyx Vibe?
Post by: strikestriketapped on August 18, 2011, 04:36:42 PM
What exactly is the coverstock on the Onyx? Pearl with mica? Pearl? Solid? I've heard/seen conflicting info.

As far as I have learned, it's a solid coverstock that is slightly more aggressive than the solid on the Blue Vibe. That makes the Onyx a decent choice for a benchmark ball for a rev dominant or higher rev bowler. It is a very even reacting, control ball, that, with an average slightly strong drilling (4" - 4.5" pin distance), will handle medium oil.

The Onyx Vibe is a solid coverstock with mica flecks (gold sparkles) in it.

I love this ball. It's amazing, especially on clean backends when most pearls will jump at the breakpoint. The Onyx is smooth and for me, it covers 75% of the house shots that I see.

Glad you are enjoying the Onyx. Have you tried the Grape yet?

Hammertech,
Is the Grape a copy of the Blue Vibe (with a different color scheme) or a different "animal"?
