Question about psycho

Has anyone had a problem with the psycho? I have gotten my 2 700+ scores with it and now it will not turn for me. Do I need to take it and get the oil extracted from it? I had the surface taken down to 2000 to see if that would help and it didn't. I am sure alot of it is me but just curious. The leagues that I am in are all on a regular house shot.

IMO, Hammer has excellent equipment, and that's all I use right now. BUT, it is high maintenance. If you've got alot of games, then maybe soaking it in the bucket of hot water to remove some oil is needed. Not sure what your cleaning routine is, but that's where I'd look first.

By high maintenance, I mean too the covers really seem to track up quick on some more than others. I had maybe 9 games on my Sauce, and it looked as if it had a months worth on it. I clean all my stuff and maintain them very well, so ball death really hasn't been an issue. Although my BW Solid has about two years worth of games, resurfacings, and soakings, and just started to "wear" out finally.

Oil absorbtion could be and issue depending on the amount of games you have on the ball. The more likely problem is that Powerhouse factory finish polish seems to wear off quicker than other polishes. Taking it down to 2000 grit is not going to help the situation. You need to take the ball back to factory OOB, 4000grit and reapply the Powerhouse factory finish polish. I have found that I need to reapply the polish about every 21 games. Giving it a hot water bath first while it's sanded wouldn't hurt to extract any oil that has been absorbed. Normally good to do every 60 games with Ebonite and Hammer equipment. But the Powerhouse polish wearing off is the likely culprit.

P.S.
After a period of use all coverstocks end up at around 600 grit. Always take back to the grit level being used(in this case 4000) before repolishing. A step that I see left out by alot of bowlers.

Oil extraction might help, and make sure you have it at box finish (the polish can wear off quickly resulting in earlier/smoother hook)

Thanks for the input everyone. I took it in to the pro shop and I get it back tomorrow. The pro shop told me that it seems to react better with polish so that is what he is putting back on the ball.

They put polish back on it but not OOB. I think it is called the Revivor. It holds 2 balls and extracts the oil from the ball. Have league tomorrow night and will see how much it helped.
