I just started subbing for a team tonight and one of the bowlers is throwing a Black Widow with 400+ games, 400 games and it has never been cleaned! Don't worry, I gave him my remaining bottle of Remedy and confiscated the ball after the league for a full resurface.
I see that the Black Widow is listed at 4000 grit Abralon, but here's my question, how does the Black widow play with polish?

My widows (all of them) took polish great, no issues and found that they kept their same shape on reaction just on a lesser overall hook scale. The balls integrity seemed to stay intact as they all were pretty rolly for me even with polish.
The one issue as somewhat expected is they got really squirty on carrydown.

I have a teammate that shined his to play the drier outside. On that lighter oil, with his firm ball speed and rolly release, it flips fairly hard when plays the outer part.
I wouldn't put polish over the 4000 grit Abralon, but over 1000 or 2000 grit Abralon at the most.

If this was my bowling ball, I would have already tired a thousand combinations But I am walking on a tight rope because this is his main reactive ball and I don't want to be blamed if he has a bad night. I think I better just put it back to box with one of our sanding discs.

I've tried several surfaces on the Black Widow, and I don't really care for it polished. 2000 Abralon worked well for me. I did try Resurrection and a light application of Snake Oil, and that worked pretty well, but I matched up best with 2000 Abralon. Box, which is 4000 Abralon, had a bit too much length and backend.

I too saw good reaction at 2000 abby.

Depends on the condition. I used it for PBA tournaments and it skids a long way. I used it for the state tournament last year and had the top score my first two games in the tournament with back-to-back 240's. For THS, I keep it clean with alcohol and then I polish it as much as I can so it snaps hard on the backend.

"400+ games" Wow, some on this site claim the ball will not hook 1 board after 20 games. I say put it back to 4000grit as why mess with success. But there is always Ressurection with a coat of Snake Oil,he couldn't blame you for trying

i have an equation with right around 500, and its still ripping racks fine.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

I called him to see what he wanted the finish at, well I found out the ball is the Black Widow Pearl, whoops.
After 400 games, let's just say this ball isn't even 1/4 of out of box preformance. Anything I do will be much needed, so a total resurface, a trip through an oil extractor and a coat of Snake Oil will do the trick. We just purchased a new camera that takes 1080 video, so I think I will demo the sanding discs.
