Has anyone recieved their Pain bowling ball yet, I thought they were going to be shipped the first of the month. I pre-paid for a combo set of balls thru one of the sites does anyone know when the new date of release is.

is the Raw Hammer PAIN a good ball for medium/heavy oil or just medium? i dont think it will be able to (without surface adjustment). Any opinions, or actual advice?

I have the pain and have used it for the past week or so. It actually hooks more than my black widow but the pain is earlier and very controllable for me, where as the widow is all backend hook, thus a little harder to control..

The pain will handle medium heavy just fine with the box finish.

I am not getting the same reading that you guys are.I drilled my pain below my middle finger with the CG in my palm(no x-hole)and it makes an early move and looks like someone kicked it dead left.My 2 black widows roll great 1 with box surface is very predictable and smooth.The other one is polished and gives me alot more skid flip.Also I should say I am a high rev player. The one thing I want to point out is my normal ball speed is around 16mph and when I juice it up to 18mph the pain rolls great.(very predictable)I have yet to use it on some heavy oil, mostly 43ft flat patterns so when I do I will post how it reacts then.

Chad-  I just punched up a new PAIN.  I put the pin at 5" and layed out at 105*.  Basically the pin is dead above the ring.  The CG is 1"  LEFT of my center line, under my middle finger.   Which would put my "MB" in my track.  

I abraloned at 4000, then hit with Factory finish.    

This ball is a truck.   It goes long, and jerks dead left like you describe.  

I think the guys that are getting "controllable" looks are guys leaving the ball in BOX surface with a "standard" drilling.   You know, Pin by the ring, with the CG either stacked or swung right.

Chad and Jason, if I may pick your brains a little...

It's looking as though the Pain may be a little stronger in the backend than expected, and stronger overall than the Black Widow, yes?  From the reviews I've been reading it seems that the Black Widow is longer (though not probably as long as the Doom, right?) and stronger on the backend whereas the Pain is a little earlier but still strong in the back...

So my understanding is it would go something like this in terms of strength...

Pain
Black Widow
Doom

with the Pain being the earliest and the Doom being the longest, sound about right?

I bet there is not a very big difference between a dull Doom and the Pain.

I don't agree with that statement. The regular doom is a regular reactive coverstock and the pain is the newer juiced reactive.. I had a doom and never liked the ball at all. I have the pain and love it..

I guess its whatever works for each person..

First ty for the kind words,hopefully either regionals or tour trials next year.For the statement about the dull doom,that stament couldnt be any farther from the truth.I have 2 dooms tried one dull and did not like the dull reaction at all.It was very week downlane and took away from what the ball is designed to do.Jason,I have not touched my surface at all on the pain.The other night I used it on a 43ft sport pattern juiced up the ball speed,took some hand out of it,never got left of 7 and shot 224-269-300-793.Not bad for a ball I was going to put a hole in b4 that night.I believe this is a ball that needs to get a few games in it to calm it down a little.Do you agree?

thanks for verifying what I said abou the dull doom not being the same as the pain. No where even close. The doom I had hit like a wet noodle when I dulled it up, so I polished it back and used it on light to medium oil. I was never impressed with the doom I had at any finish..

This pain in box finish will handle plenty of oil, trust me on that.. Its a keeper for sure..

i got mine down at the nationals booth (last 16 in stock whoo hoo!!!)

ended up going 4 1/4 x 3 with a hole on my pap

left the surface OOB

ball is super smooth...nice arcing motion off the dry great complement to my paradigm passion (drilled 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 MB) less overall hook but just as smooth tho

looking foreward to getting a black widow in the near future

what are you all saying. The doom is great. Mine is still in box, i polish it after every 15 games and it hits just as hard if not harder than anything else i have. The coverstock on the doom is versatile but i wouldn't recommedn changing it.

I'm surprised that you didn'ty like the Doom.  I can understand not liking the reaction of a ball but to not like how hard the Doom hits?  That is what floors me.  I don't know of any ball that carry's as well as the Doom.

For those of you who have dulled there Doom and didn't like the reaction because it didn't carry well is most likely because of not using it on the correct condition.  If dulled the Doom needs heavier oil to perform at it's best.

Now I have polished two of my Dooms with ebonites matte polish.  This is after I took the factory finish off of the ball with scotchbrite.  So instead of having a dull Doom it has a matte finish.  This allowed the ball to store more energy on med oil lanes.  This made the ball playable on more conditions.

Now I plan on buying a Raw Hammer Pain before the end of summer to see how it reacts compared to the Doom.  I'm going to drill it exactly like my stacked leverage Doom that has mette polish on it.  I want to see how much different the reaction is.  I'm still willing to bet that the reaction wont be that much different.  I could be wrong.  I will post a review when I get my Pain.
