I'm not familiar with either of these balls or test balls in general, but the pictures didn't show a "USBC Approved" engraving, so I'm fairly sure you can't use them in sanctioned competition.  If you want them for open bowling or as collectors items, go for it.  --  JohnP

Actually John, balls are not required to have a USBC stamp engraved to be legal to use.

 

This only started a few years back, and all balls before that are still legal.  It would need to be on the approved list of course, but doesnt require the stamp on the ball.

The Ice Claw was approved by ABC/USBC in November 2001.  I would simply contact Hammer and check to see if either of the balls are legal.  I am willing to bet the Ice Claw is legal, just not sure about the other one.  The serial number should identify which ball it is, but without the ball name ON THE BALL, it may be eliminate from being legal.
