I can't help with this question, but I want to get in here so I'll be notified of replies to this post.  I'm a big fan of the Diesel Particle Solid and the Diesel Particle Pearl, but I've never had a Power Diesel.  I've never even seen one on the lanes, only in the pro shop.

The Diesel Particle (Red and black) is solid particle with the original diesel core (same as what is being used now in the Big Block).  The Power Diesel has a modified Diesel core, a "Power ring" added to the top of the weight block which raises the RG, getting the ball farther down the lane, in addition to the particle pearl cover of the power diesel, you can expect a stronger kick on the backend than the diesel particle.  The Diesel particle should pick up a little earlier roll (because of the weight block and solid cover), and I found that it gave me a very good, continuous roll through the pins.  In my opinion, I think the Diesel particle rolls similar to big blue in a sense, only BB is a stronger ball.  Personally I have found them both to be wonderful balls, mine have worked best with 1000 Grit abralon on each.

I have found success with my big blue solid.  I usually take the surface to 500 abralon when the lanes are flooded.  I am lefty as well, and bowling the Super Hoinke, those lanes are just about as oily as you will see, and my BB is what I had success with.  My pin is only about 4" from my pap, and I have my mb swung toward my axis at 75 degrees.  The pin is below my ring finger.  Ron Hickland is the person who told me to have it drilled this way, and considering he designed the ball and knows the ins and outs of every ball with an "E" or a Hammer symbol on it, he'd be the guy to trust.  Any other questions, dont hesitate to ask.
