Question about Black Widow Pearl..Please Help!
« on: September 20, 2007, 11:19:06 AM »
I currently only have a Black Widow Pearl in my arsenal, and sometimes it just doesnt finish leaving 2 pins,2 - 10 splits etc,I have tried hand positions and moving left but when its the right oil its nails, and advice on what to get that would hook a tad bit more on the back,I love this ball and only want to compliment it..maybe a Anger?

No Mercy?

Paco

The easiest thing to do would be to alter the cover. Try it at 4000 abralon and go from there.

1500 is far to much surface for any med conditions.  Also how is it drilled?  More than likely the 2 / 10 pins are the ball rolling / tilting out.  4000 + polish is that balls suggested start point for mediums.  If it was skating past the break point one might go to 4000 as suggested but to go to 1500 is a big jump in surface.

Have you tried moving left and maybe 6" forward on the approach?  That's this first thing I try when I hit light and leave 2-pins, and that occasional 2-10 split.  For me, it slows my BWP down just enough to allow it to finish.

If you like the way the BWP rolls for you, why not buy a Black Widow Solid drilled to roll a little earlier to complement it. Everyone here is saying what to do to that ball to make it work.  What I read in your post is that you're looking for suggestions on a complement to your BWP.  The Anger would'nt be a bad choice either.

Diamond Gloss is a great thing, I have several bottles BUT I would not use much of it or you'll make a very expensive spare ball out of it.

I'd suggest 2000 with just a TOUCH of Factory Finish or your favorite polish....JUST a touch.

so is 1500 smoother than 4000 abralon, would 1200 grit be close to 4000?

I dont have any abralons so what would be closest to 4000 abralon,1200 grit?1000?

All abralon is is a different material than sandpaper. 4000 abralon = 4000 grit sandpaper.

Better yet........what is your profile?  Ball speed, rev rate, PAP.  Also, how is the ball layed out?  There are alot of factors that could lead to the laboring on the backend.
