Black Widow Solid VS Black Widow Bite
« on: February 09, 2008, 08:50:56 AM »
The Black Widow solid has a RG of 2.50 and a dif of .060
The Black Widow Bite has a RG of 2.51 and a dif of .049

It sems like the major difference would be in coverstock.  So you you adjust the Black Widow solid's coverstock to that of the Bite and have basically the same ball?

They have the same numhers for the same weights, you listed the numbers for a 15lb for the solid and the numbers for a 16lb for the bite, but yes the difference is coverstocks, the bite is stronger then the solid

Thank you for the correction Max.  The other part of the question was could you change the surface prep of the Black Widow solid to have the charateristics of the Black Widow Bite with Ablaron pads, sand paper or Scotchbrite?

You could bring the surface of the solid down to 1000 and it would read the lane similar. But in doing so you would lose the pop in the backend.

I have solid and bite they are drilled similiar but the solid is 1000 polish and bite is 2000 polished and the bite runs circles around the solid the solid still goes longer and with the bite i can move left and swing it and solid sometimes i cant depending on how the oil pattern is when they named this ball it does actually what its called bites hard and stronger on backend

That answers a lot of my questions.  I'm getting the ball for my son.  He currently has a Resurgence, Attitude Shift, Black Widow solid and the N-Sane.  Looking at replacing the N-Sane.

Didn't know what made the Bite corner harder then the BWS.

He will not be disappointed with the bite and do not under estimate it i made the mistake but a good one and took the cover down so i would start oob than work way down cause cover is very strong when i first through mine had to keep the speed up to keep it rite but once got use to it went 299 since in leauge have went 290 couple 279 and these were 4 pins from not getting out far nuff but the carry is awesome on this ball only had it a week and it has paid for itself 5 times over

Nicanor I was just wondering I havent seen the N-sane thrown so I dont know but it seems like your son has enough hook already with the resurgence and shift attitude and a black widow solid which is great on medium. I have found with my bite it is strong and needs some head oil I dont know if these are the only balls your son has but I think you would be better off getting him something alittle weaker. Dont get me wrong the bite is awesome and like others have said you wont be disappointed, I was just giving my .02 cents worth

I agree that my son has too many aggresive bowling balls.  My son is a spinner and needs more aggressive bowling balls to hook for him.  he has taken lessons with Alvin Lou and is slowly bringing his track up.  I have the Complete NV coming in for him.  Any suggestions on how to drill that for him would be geatly appreciated.

Bowling balls in my house is not a problem.  If I don't have 120 I don't have any.  I worked with in with the Tsunami, the Doom and the PBA Inferno and I find that the more aggressive balls work for him.  He can throw any ball at the 10 pin and make it consistantly.  He's only 16 and weighs about 130 LBS.

Thanks for all the input.
