Many say this ball is for med to dry lanes.

How much dry can this ball take?

How does it compare with the Vapor Zone?

IMO, the best person to ask is chitown. He has 3 and all different covers. He'll tell ya what/when/hoe good this ball really is with what cover.

IMO the Doom is to strong for dry. Its more medium. The Vibe is Hammers dry lane ball..

Vapor Zone is much earlier and continous.  The Doom is more of a skid/flip ball motion.  I consider the Doom as a poor man's One.  The Doom can handle from medium to medium/dry.  On the brunt, you have to drill the Doom really weak, 6" pin?

I would say the Doom is perfect for med and can handle light oil good.  When the lanes get to be toast I would consider another ball.

Now if your as lower rev bowler you may have better success than me on toasted lanes.  I have a good amount of hand and decent ball speed(on the higher side).  On toasted lanes I tried one of my Dooms with delayed reaction polish and it still moved too much and was a little harder to control.  

Now even with my ball speed and revs I can use my Doom on light oil patterns but it's best used on med oil.  This ball is strong so don't let the shiny cover fool you.  

I'm going to be shopping for a dry lane ball soon to handle toasted conditions.  

Now the Doom probably could work if you were to drill it with the pin like 1-2" from your pap and had the cg in the palm.  Then I could see it working for toasted lanes.

Now when i'm in league play I don't run across toasted lanes very often.  So if you need a ball that can handle med/light and some dry the Doom is an awesome choice.  Plus the thing I really like about the Doom is even on toasted lanes the ball doesn't burn up.  It still hits like a missle.  It's just that I need to play really deep and use fast ball speed to score.   For me on the toast most balls are uncontrollable.

Now this is the Doom I used and am talking about.  It's drilled 5.5" from my pap above my bridge with the cg kicked right to 1oz and no balance hole.  The cover is at 1000 grit and 2 coats of delayed reaction polish.  

I'm still going to try it again on toasted lanes but am going to bring the cover up to like 4000 grit and then polished like a marble with delayed reaction to see if it works better.  Who knows it may work just fine on toasted lanes with that type of cover prep.  I just personally feel for toasted lanes your better off finding a ball that does not require so much work and up keep to keep it tame.

The key to toasted lanes is getting a ball that will not over react on super dry lanes.  Then again how often do you bowl on toasted lanes.  Lanes that are so dry that plastic hooks a lot.  So for me I may invest in a dry lane ball for conditions like that or I may just stick with my Doom.

There is no better light oil THS ball right now, then the VIBE.

The reason the vibe kind of scres me is because it uses the same cover as the doom the max flip.  The Doom just uses a enhanced version of that cover.

Chi- would I steer you wrong?   Would I be touting the ball as heavily as I am, if I didn't believe in it?    Every post that asks about the DOOM and what to do if it is too much, I respond with the VIBE.    

I absolutely love the ball.  I have 3, all drilled different, and I am considering getting another.    

The DOOM and VIBE do not even compare.   The coverstocks are so different it isn't even funny.    This ball goes much longer and is much calmer off of the spot.  The DOOM can be very "jerky"; the VIBE is not.    

I bowl Thursday night team league with a former EXEMPT PBA pro, who is on Ebonite staff, and he is constantly telling me that he wishes E had that ball in thier line.    

Seriously, depending on where you get the ball, it is a 100-150 dollar ball.   BUY it and try it.   Lay it out just like your 5.5" DOOM and compare them.   Then, come back and tell me that they are similar.......I DARE YOU!

Doom and Sling Blade, best 1-2 punch in the history of bowling. Well maybe not history, but it works for me.
