Thinking of buying a DOOM, but where will it fit?
« on: May 15, 2006, 11:55:26 PM »
Here is my current arsenal:

EPX T1 (box finish, stacked lev) = Heavy Oil to Heavy/Medium
Action (box finish, stacked lev) = Heavy/Medium to Medium
Agent (box finish, stacked lev) = Medium
Red XXXL (box finish, label lev) = Light to Dry

Where would the DOOM fit and do I have a place in my arsenal for it?  Also, how would you drill it looking at my profile?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is enough oil and no, the ball is not rolling-out.

I have found the Doom to be a FANTASTIC ball for medium AND drier conditions.  I would say it would probably end up a bit below the Agent, but my guess is once you saw the ball in action you'd rarely bring the Agent out of the bag.    This ball has great control coupled with amazing power.  Since acquiring mine, my average is up 28 pins.  (I still have a lot to learn, and it's not all the Doom that bumping my average, but it is a big part of it!)  Since I got the ball, I've been using it on every condition I see aside from the heavier stuff.  Heck, I even sold half my arsenal because I don't need it anymore!

As far as drilling goes, I'm not the most knowledgeable sod in this area.  I would use a strong drilling on the ball, since you describe yourself as speed dominant.  Mine has a basic label leverage drill and I can use it in a LOT of different situations.  Good luck!

I have mine drilled pin over bridge with the cg kicked out. This drilling actually gave me too much skid/flip so I put a small weight hole to tame it down a bit. If I was going to drill a new one, my suggestion would be to go with a label drilling. Should fit nicely underneath your Agent (awesome ball itself). Hope this helps.

Thank you Tracy, it does.  Any other opinions and/or comments from others?

I agree. Label leverage is the way to go. I have two, one with the pin below the ring finger kciked out a bit and the cg a little bit further. Lots of control and handles light mediums with clean backends. The second one has the pin just above the ring finger with the cg kicked out about an inch and a half, I can't control it. It flips to hard. I'm thinking about redrilling it to complement my first one better. 2 cents

Pin under fingers (middle of bridge), CG kicked out to 1 oz. side weight.
(Chitown, will probably have a recommendation...he recommened the above drilling for a friend, who has higher speed and med revs, who is tearing up the lanes with his RAW DOOM).

I just ordered one from Buddies, and will be drilling it 4-1/2 X 3-1/2.
I will be using more speed than revs release with this ball on a tougher house shot.

Hope this helps.

Your going to love this ball.  I would drill it strong based on your profile.  Pick either one of your layouts.  Stacked lev or label lev.  I don't think you can go wrong with ethier one.

I have a Doom drilled stacked leverage with the pin high and it gives an awesome reaction.

I also have 2 Drilled with the pin above the bridge and cg kicked right and no balance hole.  One of them is in box condition and the other is dulled to 1000 grit.

Rich is correct with the pin below layout.  This is a great layout for this ball.  If I didn't have such a high ball track I would put the pin below my bridge on one of my Dooms.

The Doom is an awesome ball period.

I have two one dull and one very shinny. both drilled the same pin over the bridge with the CG kicked out, use it for light oil if shined med for dull
