I wouldn't look to this ball to be able to play straighter. The original Rebel (pearl) would be a better choice for that. The Rebel solid is a baby oiler that begs to be played further in.
This is fits what I saw. Maybe some further insight on your intent and how the shot plays?
I was practicing on a fresh THS with clean backends and lots of friction from 10 to the gutter. This was not an ideal condition for playing straighter up the outside with a fairly aggressive 500/2000 NIB surface. Maybe if the outside was more blended, I could have pulled it off. I ended up crossing 3rd arrow out about the 10 and watched the ball boom back. It was fun.
My intent in getting the Rebel is to eventually replace an aging Columbia Disorder. The Rebel and the Disorder have almost identical RG/Differential specs. The Disorder has a weaker hybrid cover, but otherwise was the closest match I could find. I can always bring the surface of the Rebel up to be closer.
I didn't really think about it at the time, but I also have the Storm Rocket Ship, which has a lot of overlap with the Rebel Solid. I'll figure out what surface adjustments are necessary to separate their respective reactions.
