Refresher on the Hammer Redemption Solid and Pearl

        Since it's been awhile since we've been on the lanes (L.A. County centers are still not allowed to open as of 6/26/2020), here's a refresher review of the Newest Hammer ball released on 2/20/2020.


Hammer Redemption Solid

   The first Pro Performance Hammer ball manufactured by Brunswick includes a new coverstock the Aggression NE Solid to cut through heavier volumes of lane oil. The box surface is a strong 360/500/2000 using Siaair pads. The new design of the Redemption is a combination of the core at 15 lbs. gives a low RG (2.498), High Diff (.053) with an Asym. Diff of .015. Add to that, both Hammer Redemptions use D.O.T. manufacturing by Brunswick. D.O.T. stands for Durability Optimization Technology. This allows the ball to be drilled in an unrestricted drill area for more flexibility and still keep the 2 year warranty in force. Plus the outer core is still infused with carbon fiber.
   Comparing it to the previous high performance Hammer ball, the Hammer Statement Solid, the Redemption Solid clears the heads a little cleaner and is more responsive to the friction on the back of a pattern. Testers have seen more forgiveness when moving toward the center of the lane as the fronts break down.

   The Hammer Redemption Pearl is a cleaner more responsive reaction at the end of the pattern than the Hammer Redemption Solid. I am a great fan of the Hammer Statement Pearl and this would be a great replacement. The cover stock is the new Aggression NE Pearl with a box finish of 500 Siaair and Crown Factory Compound applied. As with the Solid, the new design of the Redemption is a combination of the core at 15 lbs. gives a low RG (2.498), High Diff (.053) with an Asym Diff of .015. Add to that both Hammer Redemptions use D.O.T. manufacturing by Brunswick. D.O.T. stands for Durability Optimization Technology. This allows the ball to be drilled in an unrestricted drill area for more flexibility and still keep the 2 year warranty in force. The outer core is infused with carbon fiber to add to the durability.

I was able to get 20 games in with my Redemption Solid before all the centers in my area were shut down. If I'm lucky they will reopen by August.

Anyway I like the ball at least on the two sport patterns I got to use it on.

Was more of a mixed bag for the 6 games I used it on a house shot.

But that was expected I like to use a ball when it is still new on conditions its not designed for. My theory best way for me to learn how to adjust with a ball, and determine how it will work for me is bowl some games with it on conditions its not designed for.

Anyway I like the Redemption solid. My only complaint it gets really dirty its a real bitch and half to keep clean. I'm probably going to go through bowling ball cleaner when the centers in my area finally reopen.

I don't know if it is the color or something to do with the cover stock. I have,the Hammer Statement Solid as well and it doesn't get nearly as dirty.

Yes the Redemption solid and Statement Solid are similar, but I have the Redemption drilled a little differently So my Redemption is a little more aggressive.
My plan before the shutdown was to use my statement in the house league. The Redemption was going to be the first ball out of the bag in my PBA experience league at least for a while.  We hit the point in the season where we were going to bowl on a lot of patterns where the Redemption would have been a good choice at least at the start of the match.

Unfortunately Covid-19 messed up all the fun.☹

I have noticed that the Brunswick covers do get really dirty quickly so its probably the formula they use for the covers. I throw Radical and they get dirty easy.

Thanks for your feed backs. Since they are a new cover stock, they may get dirtier faster. I haven’t been able to use mine as yet and we just received the news that My County will be closed another 3 weeks. The plus is to keep the surface clean so you don’t lose performance. Make sure you’re not fighting what you’re bowling on. The surface can be changed, if needed. If you find yourself have to force the Hammer Redemption through the fronts, then you will have to ball down or move more into the lane oil. Never be shy to experiment. Good luck!

Yes my only complaint is how dirty it gets. I need to find a more effective cleaner. The tough scrub works. But  I seem to go throug more of it then I should have tonight in order to.CLT the ball. Only reason I still have a full bottle and part of another is because I haven't bowled since March 13th. Two or three Days before all the centers in my area closed.

It was just a guess, but it also probably absorbs oil like a sponge. So you need to be diligent in keeping up your ball maintenance with the redemption.

I ordered it from the pro shop the first week it was officially released, so I was fortunate to get in 20 games with it over a 3 week period before the shut down.

9 games on a sport shot that the ball is designed for.   The other 11 were me just using it on conditions its not designed for.  So enough of a sample to know Iike the ball it fit my style well when I used it on heavier volume oil and longer sport patterns. So the ball is as advertised. I just need to find a really good ball cleaner when the centers in my area open back up.

I think the closest currently open center to me is about 2 hours away, and they might have since closed back down. Due to the spike upwards of Covid in my state. I can only hope by late July or early August I can go bowling again. I wonder🤔 If i will remember hot to.bowl.😟 🤣
