We have had enough of the talking about how the industry is going down hill, so we decided to do something about it. Join the movement at www.savebowling.com and help us turn it around.

Save bowling?  HEY Ebonite International didnt you promise within the last few years that you would have fewer new ball releases?  Maybe if there were less balls on the market people would have extra cash to bowl more!

@VBP why do you have to spend your extra cash on bowling balls? I don't get how the releases sway whether or not you will bowl?

This is one of the least intelligent statements I have seen here on BR. The ball market has nothing to do with the dwindling USBC and league bowler ranks. People that buy multiple balls are usually die hard bowlers...people that will probably never quit the game.

If anything they have helped grow the sport. The constant cycling of new equipment in the market allows beginning bowlers to have used balls readily available to them. I can't tell you how many people I have come through my shop that are simply amazed at how much the technology has advanced and how easy it is to see in on the lanes.

Yeah I watched em all...its not motivational at all...

It's a good idea yes...but bowling was the "scene" way back when..it'll never be the place to hangout like it was..especially with the economy and centers not investing in themselves..

I like Jeff U....but I don't like being told my honor scores don't mean anything...

I understand we should all bowl on sport but its not like there aren't "hard" house anymore...I bowl at one that has 2 honor scores this  whole year...one by someone who's a college kid who practices all the time and one by someone who works there...IMO were not bowling on a cake walk..

Some of its relevant...but its all the owners of centers faults...the usbc.....hell the pba...the economy...I'm not complaining here but that's how I see the videos...

I dont think it's the equipment either,it's fun to buy a new ball everynow and then.

I feel if the shot or house is to hard to score in then bowlers move on or quit.if to easy then the serious bowler will move on as well.

another point of intrest is the bowling center.most if not all that I've bowled in is old and dumpy. pro shops that are barely hanging on,snack bars that look like old grease pits and so on.maybe the bowling ball manufactures should invest more into the local bowling centers and not just in the more upscale parts of town either.People spend money in all parts of town.

I would say it is not the manufactures fault at all.  Moreso the center managers and CEOs.  It all starts from teh top, though.  Most center managers are acting in response to what their managers are harping on them about.  I have seen the emails from corporate big whigs from companies like Brunswick.  Thanks to those guys, the centers now have the mentality that they would rather risk losing the guaranteed $9.00-10.00 lineage for league bowlers and instead concentrate on the "Come in and bowl for .99 cents but spend your money on the $2.00 sodas and alcohol sales.

The center I am bowling at right now, has almost a full center of league bowlers 4 nights a week.  I would really like to compare the revenues from that center as compared to a center that would rather jack up their lineage and not care about lane conditions/maintenance to help push the league bowlers out the door, then promote open bowling like crazy and snack bar sales.

Fat people also don't like being told their  fat....if you play putt putt and shoot 45 for 18 holes, it doesn't mean  you're ready to take down Tiger Woods shooting 67.  I think that was the  point....

I love the site, and the message.  I disagree that manufacturers don't share some of the blame.  We have way too many bowling balls, and bowlers drown in all of the choices.  They watch video after video showing what the balls do (for people with a lot of hand usually) and they have unrealistic expectations about ball reaction.  I drilled a Critical Theory for a guy with a 225rpm, 18* tilt who threw it 17.5mph.  He saw a video of a guy banging it across 4th arrow and was disappointed when the ball didn't do that.  Mind you this guy averages 195 in league.

I go to my distributor's website at any given time and between the major manufacturers there are about 120 balls in current production.  There is no way we can justify a need for that many different reactions.  Yes I know there will always be choices, but it's getting out of hand.  Golf manufacturers come out with a couple of drivers a year, and at any given time might have 3 makes in production.  When you go in a store you can easily find the one that fits your eye and game.  When you try to explain to new bowlers that the bowling balls are so numerous because of the different reactions offered I'm sure most think "wow I thought this game was simple"....after some time they get bored and move on.  Parents now would find it cheaper long term to have their kids play golf than bowl because of the cost to replace equipment on an annual basis.

Lol the point is...I can read..thanks for dumbing it down...if hammer thinks telling their customers that their honors scores don't mean anything that's fine...I work for a living...I'm not aspiring to be a pro..nor am I comparing myself to a pro now was i? The whole concept is great don't get me wrong...but its sad that a manufacturer had to get creative like this...it should be the bowling centers, usbc, the pba all coming together to save bowling.

Props to hammer for a great idea, I hope its taken seriously by all.  No props for your bad metaphor that had nothing to do with what I said.."a 300" doesn't make a pro Russ...it just means u threw the ball decent 12 shots in a row..hopefully were clear now haha

to save the sport we nedd some help from television so let's get rid of the 2 annoucners and put in somebody who knows the game and can relate to the audience and the league and above bowlers or we will go down the tubes just like nascar
