SOAKING BALLS

Ok I finally am trying the ball in hot water soak.
My Black Widow used to be 6 boards more ball at the starting point than my Threshold and lately it has been the other way around.  Been seeing a ton of guys comment after their Widow had 40 or 50 games on them they lost a bunch of hook.  So I decided to try the soak as I'm toatally against putting a perfectly good ball in the oven.  Put it in a bucket,thumb hole straight up and filled it with hot water and added a couple drops of Dawn.  Let it sit for 15 minutes and was amazed how much oil was on the surface of the water.  What was more amazing was how Slimy the shell was when I pulled it out of the water.  Wiped off the ball and have repeated 3 or 4 times with the same results.  Questions are... How hot can the water be?  Is a couple drops of soap enough?  How many times do I need to repeat?  Can the ball be thrown fairly soon?  With the thumb hole up no water is going in it but is in the finger holes.  I have grips of course but I figured it was important to keep the thumb hole dry.  Thanks for the answers, I hope this works.

Answers are as follows..

140-145 degrees.
Add enough soap as if you were drawing a bubble bath for a toddler.
Until the oil is no longer on the surface of the ball.
As soon as it's dry.
Don't worry about water in the finger/thumbholes.

I have done this a couple of times with a few of mine.  It def works great!~~ My question is, so everytime you take it out of the water and the coverstock is still oily and slimy to do it again?  Ive done it about 3 times so far with a few of mine and they still are oily, haha!  Owell, Ill keep it up and see what happens.  But, with my widow, there was a drastic change~

I scotch tape all the holes. It does the trick nicely.

30-45mins thenchange the water and do it again

i wouldnt let it sit longer than it takes the water to cool too muck other wise the oil might set back into the cover. I try to change the water when its cool enough to put my hand in without it being uncomfortable.

Does Palmolive work as well as Dawn? Or should I wait to use dawn

I used a store brand of detergent the other day on my old C300 Reation ARC and it worked just fine.  Brought lots of oil out.  Any type of detergent, Dawn, Palmolive, etc. will do the trick.

I give all of mine a good bath every month.  But, my widow needs one every 2 weeks or so.  I just fill a bucket with hot water and add a couple drops of dawn.  However, just the hot water works just fine to exfoliate the oil and grim out of the ball. I normally let it soak for about 20 min.  I just plop it in dont bother covering the holes at all.  Doesnt effect them.  Then towel off the ball.  If needed repeat as many times as needed.  This process has reguvenated many of mine.  Bringing them back to pretty much new condition.  Im so glad that i started doing this, because i was really starting to wonder if a few of my balls were gonners and dead!

The finger holes are all tapey because of the scotch tape I put on it
