Toxic vs Psycho????
« on: March 25, 2009, 07:16:08 PM »
I have a toxic and I'm looking for a stronger ball. Would the Psycho work?

The lanes I play are using a heavier oil now and the Toxic breaks down after 1 to 1.5 games.

I throw medium revs and 17-18 mph.

Thanks

The Toxic is much more skid/flip than the Psycho.  The Psycho(in box condition) is long and arcy by nature.  If you are looking for something "stronger"(you didn't say where, back of the lane, midlane...??) I'd say the Acid is a good choice.

I throw up the 4-6 brd, so I like go long and nice break to the pocket.

So I'm looking for stronger ball in the back of the lane.

Still the Acid?

Thanks

The Toxic would likely offer much more on the backend compared to the Psycho or Acid, which lend themselves more toward strong arc. However if you like playing that far to the right, you may want to take the Toxic out of the equation. From that far outside, the Toxic is likely to be much too angular down the lane, resulting in poor pin carry. At least, that's what I found when I tried to go straighter with the Toxic.

Gene,
I have the Toxic drilled where it works perfect for where I play. Problem being I now need a stronger ball. Any other recommendations with Hammer?

Thanks

If you really want some thing stronger i Lover my Widow Bite its on a crazy layout but that cover to it is AGGRESSIVE as sin, this is the ball that i use on the Shark on my PBA experience league i bowl in and i couldn't be more happy with the reaction in heavy oil, depending on your PAP and rev rate your pro shop guys should know what to do to make it react the way you would want if you are playing that close to the gutter thought i would either put a polish on the ball or would throw the pin up higher on the lay out that's how i have my bite laid out but an amazing ball

Well, if you want stronger, meaning more oil-handling ability, I'd look at the Acid first. It seems to be a very solid ball for mediums. It should definitely be earlier and stronger than the Toxic. You could also try adding surface to a Psycho, but I'd probably just go ahead with the Acid.

This is interesting to read.

Toxic was a pearl particle ball and acted like one.....

I had a doom for a short while and it was too much but same ball with less early traction and more backend.

The Black Widow Pearl was a Doom on steroids long(very little midlane) and very strong!
