I drilled my taboo the same as my mission. Pin next to ring and cg, mb stacked and weight hole.

But my taboo oob had no recovery if I missed right a little where the mission would crush the pocket.
I threw the taboo 4 games oob finish and never left so many 7 pins and buckets. (im a righty)

Then I decided to polish the taboo with ebonite factory finish. Ball rolls a tad better but nothing like advertised. Im not getting the continuation on the backend.

My polished plague (oob surface with factory finish) and mission (oob 2000) out hook and out perform the taboo?

I loved my black widow and swagga, and was expecting great things from this ball.

Im a power tweener with 16mph speed and medium to high revs. Bowl on medium heavy synthetic lanes

Any suggestions?

i drilled mine pin under ring finger.and put a coat of polish on it and it is very strong on the back and has great carry and hitting power

Sounds to me like another case of the mystery surrounding the Widow core.
 
This is not meant as a knock on Hammer and their technology but I have seen some very odd things regarding the Widow series of balls. Layouts were chosen that should have given this reaction but it was completely different in the hands of various bowlers. It has been my experience here that layouts with the pins even with or below the fingers to PAP line have always seemed problematic with the Widow cores.
 
The above issue was one reason I was VERY hesitant to drill up a Taboo but I decided to go with a layout off their drill sheet instead of using my old stand by drilling.
 
Pin next  to the ring with the mass bias in the track is giving me a very strong and continuous reaction for a label drill.
 
Don't give up on the ball.... it is a VERY good piece.

I hit my Taboo with a 4000 grit abralon pad and the ball rolls great if you like a ton of backend.  It does not have the mid lane roll that I thought it would, but does cover a ton of boards all in the backend. 

I was hoping to use this ball for Nationals as everything I read was about the great continuation from the mid lane, but now will just use in league since it is a big backend type reaction that i am getting.  Also got pretty much same reaction OOB just covered more boards.

its too strong....that cover is sneaky strong without even realizing it. Then you have it flaring alot with the pin position. Your statement about weaker covered balls out hooking this one proove that.

 

If you cant keep the ball in the oil longer, try bringing the surface up some more and using more polish
