Hammer Taboo Pearl?

 I read that the new ball is 4-5 boards stronger than the original.

Doesn't sound like a medium oil ball to me.

doug..  the couple of guys I've talked to, say it is cleaner up front but more angular on the backend..

It comes dull for use with medium-heavy to hevy oil, as far as I understand it right now,
Of course it can be polished for use with less oil. I'm sure a knowledgeable driller can drill it and apply the right surface for use on medium conditions,
BUT why buy a ball designed for heavy oil and "TRY" to modify it for less oil.
Why not buy a ball intended for the condition on which you want to use it?

I just drilled one of the two I received and thus far, the new Taboo definitely has a stronger/more angular motion on the backend. There is more length to this one. It does not burn up as quickly in the heads as the original does though. Of course, this is just a first impressions kind of thing with me right now.

 

The one I drilled has a 45 degree MB with a 5" pin above the fingers with no weight hole needed. Hope this helps!

To the question about this ball being for medium oil, it is a yes and no answer.  No,out of the box, it will not be better for medium oil, because it is indeed stronger at the breakpoint and about 3-4 boards more overall.
 
Yes, it can definitely be better however, because I drilled my second one for this very purpose.  I put the pin an inch above my middle finger and shined it before ever throwing it and it for me, definitely became much more suitable for medium oil.  When I did this to the original Taboo, it wasn't quite as effective because the strong solid cover still wanted to read earlier than I was looking for.
 
It is not quite like the difference that the Sauce and Hot Sauce provided between medium and heavy oil for example because Hammer still isn't going with this one as a true shiny pearl, but there is differences between the two when this one gets shined.
