Taboo Success

I haven't had a chance to write my review of the Taboo yet. I will post a full review of the ball within the next day or so. But tonight was the first night I used this ball in league play after drilling it Friday night. I shot games of 258, 235, and 300 for a 793 set.. The best part of the whole night was only making a one board move left with my feet going into the last game..

This ball is absolutely amazing and looks great on the rack, wall, and lane. I know we always say/hear "get this ball" or "this is a must have".. but I will say it, this is a must have ball, get it!!

The Swagga and Taboo are much different in ball reaction. The Swagga is a little earlier with a little smoother reaction down lane. The Taboo is much more continuous down lane than any of our products from the past. Like Jeff said...throw these balls side by side and you will see the difference. Not to mention the versitlity of this cover is unbelievable.

I am not Jeff but I will answer your question..... The Plague is more of an arc piece. Taboo has .060 dif which makes the hook potenial a little higher than the Plague(.055 dif). Taboo is  3-4 boards stronger in overall hook for me.....with the difference being a much more pronouned breakpoint. Not to mention the Plague is much weaker with polish on it. Taboo still hooks alot with factory polish on it. Hope this answers your questions. I have seen Jeff throw both of these balls and I see about the same difference for him.

I've seen a few comments here about the Taboo being the same as the Swagga with a slight or no cover change. I must say, this is not true. This is a big change. These balls are not the same in reaction. I wanted to see how much different the Taboo would be from my Swagga. Since both had the same core, I decided to drill my Taboo with the same layout as my Swagga.

I'll start by saying my style is more of a tweener. I'm slightly rev dominant. Ball speed below average. I drilled both balls with a 40* x 5 x 45* layout. Using a hole 1" past the VAL along the center line. Both balls were box finish.

I was 4/5 boards in with my feet and 2/3 boards in with my target with the Taboo compared to the Swagga. You could see the Taboo pick up it's roll and change direction down the lane. It wasn't a sharp move, but a very strong, arching, continuous move. It almost looked like the Taboo slowed down, turned over and went left to the pocket. The Swagga's motion was much smoother. While still strong, the change of direction wasn't as pronounced as the Taboo.  

Out of the box, I shot 280-761 with this ball.  It's by far the strongest Hammer ball to date. Yet, very controllable and predictable.

Of course if you throw the Swagga and Taboo side by side it'll have a different reaction. Factory finish for Swagga is 800/1000/2000 while Taboo is sanded one more time to give an 800/1000/2000/2000.

Having done a bunch of Demo Days this year and seen alot of Plagues go down the lane and last week we had our Demo Taboo's the balls are night and day.
The Plague is smoother down lane. The Taboo is much stronger off the spot.

thats what I was thinking...I actually thought it was a Hot Sauce that McCune was throwing even tho they said it was a Taboo...

I finally puched my TABOO last week and was able to throw it a few games.  In comparison to the SWAGGA I have to say it is much earlier in the mids and 5-7 boards more on the backend.  I have had 4 800s in the last 5 weeks with my SWAGGA so I have a very good feel for this ball, and the TABOO is a big step up in performance.  I threw the TABOO lastnight for a complete set and averaged 240 in the toughest house in town.  I will be using this ball this weekend on the Chameleon at a regional and will report on it after.  Good luck.

I don't beleive the Taboo is allowed in PBA regional competition until December 14th.  That is what we were told at a regional I was at the weekend of November 19-21.  That is also in the product registration book.

They used it on the National tour already so it is already PBA approved.

I would double check. I was told by the Eastern Region manager that some of the balls approved for the World Series were not approved for us to use 2 weeks ago.

There was an exception for the World Series of Bowling.  The Taboo is not approved for regional use until December 14th.

CPA is correct, I was made aware that the balls used during the WSOB we cleared only for the event, Dec 14 is the open date for use in all PBA competition..
