Well now that the Taboo is out, what is everyone thinking of it?

I love the STRONG movement of the Taboo... just wish I had more oil out here in the desert to throw it more often. This is gonna be a great oil ball that I have been looking to replace my Jigsaw & Sting products.

Great job Mr. Ussery & Hammer staff with this ball... Looks great on the shelf & on the lanes!

I'll be picking mine up tomorrow. I threw a demo one a couple days ago that was drilled almost identically to my Rival. It rolled a little sooner and hooked a little more off the spot. This will probably become my benchmark ball and the first out of the bag in league.

Let me say that this ball is everything that is said about this ball. I drilled it with 45X4X35 layout.  This ball is very strong playing deep inside  in the oil and I have no problem making it back to the pocket.  It has a very strong down lane move and continuation that is like nothing I have seen before in the Hammer Brand.  I kept it at OOB surface . I then proceeded to move right 8 boards and play down 8 and get it out to 3 and it reacted as I expected.  Strong and continuous.  Looks like the Taboo has a shot at being the ball of the year,]

The combonation of the Grand Theft coverstock and the Gas Mask Core is an excellent matchup.

Excellent work Jeff.

Out of curiosity at what gross weight does Hammer consider a ball a 2nd''s. Two of the 6 Taboo''s i got in are  heavy 15''s  One is 5lb  7oz and one is 5lb 8oz

i love it, and yes there is a difference in motion between the swagga and taboo. With both being drilled same the taboo gives a more snap on backend

@Stormed:

This is per Mr. Ussery:

15 pound balls are typically defined as 14 lbs, 15 oz to 15 lbs 8 oz.
Over 90% of the balls fall within 15-1 to 15-5.

Hope this clears it up for you.

Let me say this. After having much success with the SWAGGA I was really exicited about the TABOO. I currently have 2 TABOO's with a third on the way.  The first one is drilled pin down, CG out without a hole, MB at 45 degrees 2.5 inches from thumb, shined.  I generally use this layout for fresh or non broken down shots. It still is clean through the front and midlanes but the backend is very continuous.  The shine makes it a little sharper on the point but not uncontrollable.  The second ball is drilled pin up, CG static and MB is just to the right of the thumb hole. This ball is extremely clean through the front and midlane and very smooth, the backend finish is not that angular as one would think with a pin up but is still continuous.  I believe the best three ball bag that could be put together right now is TABOO, BRAWL, MIDNIGHT VIBE. Good Luck and Have Fun

I have to say with the way the Taboo rolls it compliments my Trap and Onyx Vibe nicely.  I will probably need to add a light coat of polish because dang it is strong.

I just got my Taboo today, all I can say is man is this ball strong. I could only use it about a game and half, because after that I started to leave 8 pins (I am a Lefty) after 8 pins and ringing 7 pins, time to put it away.

But the first game I did shoot a 269 with it, that ball will come back from anywhere, its a monster. I think it will be good for fresh shots and tournaments, it should be good when I go to Reno in early June.

The Taboo is the first ball I have bought new in quite some time for my own use. I had to see if teh ball was THAT good...Well, I am not disappointed.

I decided to drill the ball using the length with smooth arc layout since that's the ball reaction I was looking for. Well I got pretty close to the layout...the pin ended up at 4" to my PAP instead of 4-1/2  but otherwise it fits the layout sheet.

Out of the box the ball was too early so I hit the ball with a light coat of Valentino's UFO and that did the trick.

What I can say is that the ball is VERY forgiving and has opened a whole new world for me. The ball clears the heads cleanly, rolls hard in the midlane and then arcs strongly off the spot...just like the drill sheet said it would!!!!  I am having a tough time reading the roll well enough to make the right adjustments in terms of spares and adjustments when the lanes break down.

The Taboo gives me all kinds of room on a broken down house shot which is where I was really afraid the ball was going to flounder but it's just the opposite. As long as I get deep enough on the lane and get the ball off my hand cleanly, the Taboo will project, read and react as it should. I ended up having nearly 1/2 the lane to play with once I got my feet deep enough.

I am very impressed...so much so that a bunch of my other equipment will be seeing the "For Sale" section of this website in the near future.

Thanks Hammer for a great product. ..I am a believer once again.

punched one out yesterday, threw it last night on a pretty burnt up shot, 650 with a few ringing 8's & 9's & corner pins. I polished mine before i threw it, drilled pin up between bridge cg in palm & mb in thumb hole (use this drilling on all of my symetrical balls) so figured i'd see what it would do.  ball has nice lenth & strong back end movement.

will see how it does on fresh tomorrow night.

used it last night in league, shot great 1st & 2nd games   268 & 266 then shot broke down and i should've put it away,  really crappy last game.   153.......  as long as i kept it inside and didn't let it get out to far it just destroyed the rack.  will see what it does on sunday on alittle more oil.
