Taboo at the USBC Open Championships
« on: April 20, 2011, 04:22:45 AM »
I am thinking about drilling one of these up for the Fresh at Nationals, maybe something like 55x4.5x45. For anyone who has been there, have you seen a lot of these being used on the fresh? Did you throw a Taboo with any success? Any info will be helpful. thx guys

i used mine for team, as well as d/s. layout is 50* x 5" x 40*, 2k surface. was able to go down the boards in team and it rolled well. i didn't have to move the first 2 games. problem for me was when i had to move, it was a little spotty and i had to make a big move. after a few frames of different reaction, i switched to my midnight vibe(50* x 4" x 40*,oob) and was able to get back to the pocket.

for minors, i went back and forth between taboo & vibe. had i made a couple better moves in game 1 for doubles, the score would of been better. for singles in the 3rd game, i had 2 shots really come off my hand great and the end result was not as hoped for. over all though, both of the balls rolled great for me. good luck!

There have been A LOT of these used on the fresh. Liking your thinking on the layout too. Think with a 4.5 pin and 55 mb you will still be able to get it around the corner when you have to start chasing it in too. Biggest thing is to stay out during the whole time during practice. First few shots you throw will hook a lot in the back, but this tames down quickly. If you need anything else feel free to ask or stop in and chat before you bowl.

I have to agree with the Hammer Booth guys. I used one of my TABOOs drilled pin up, CG static, MB in the 5 oclock position for a smooth controllable line. The shot was on the NATIONALS pattern but with AMF surface. We bowled 5 games qualifing and top 8 to matchplay. I never had to move left of 20 at the arrows. The surface was at 4000. I started out playing around 7-8 and just chased it in. During matchplay the three matches that I had all of my competitors were throwing storm balls and didnt have as good as recation as I did. Two of the players are PBA title holders with one of them being exempt on the Tour and the other a  very good Local player. Good luck.
