Can't make up my mind
« on: November 14, 2006, 10:54:10 PM »
Im getting a ball on Thanksgiving weekend and I can't figure out which to go with. I "WANT" a No Mercy but I "THINK" a Domination will fit my game better, what do you think...I am a Stroker/Tweener(at times), with low to med revs and medium ball speeds, looking for a Med Heavy-Heavy oil ball(more on the heavy side). My heart is telling me NO MERCY but my mind is saying DOMINATION. I already own a Black Widow (which I Love), I have trouble with freshly oiled lanes but once they start breaking down Im good. And with medium conditions I Love my Fired Up. Like I said im soo torn. I would get both but that is not an option right now(especially when my fiance is bugging me for a Pain). Im a big believer in Hammer's pin action...Please help, Thanks, Joe

P.S. I appreciate all you Hammerheads' advice, I am also gonna post to the Storm guys as well. (trying to avoid any bias opinions)

If you can't fix your game, then I suggest beating it with a HAMMER!!!

The NM is a good Heavy oil ball.  In fact I feel it's needs oil.  This ball will find it's way right back into the bag if there's not heavier oil.  Plus if the back ends are really dry then the NM may have some trouble.  This ball responds to friction big time.  It's hard to control when the lanes get dry.

If I had to choose which ball is best between the PAIN, BW, NM i'm picking the PAIN!  In fact, it's not even close.  The PAIN is more versatile in it's box condition.  Sure all balls can have there covers adjusted to match up to a condition.  The trick is when the lane break down while your bowling and your not allowed to adjust the cover.  This is where tha PAIN kicks the others butts.  In it's box condition the PAIN can handle a ton of conditions.  When the shot breaks down the PAIN doesn't have to be put back into the bag.

I bowled with Rich(duke harding) last night.  I had my PAIN, DOOM, BW and NM.  Rich had his new NM.  The shot had some oil but it broke down quick.  The NM and BW had to be put away early while the PAIN kept on trucking.  We bowled 11 games each and I was able to use the PAIN from start to finish.  I was using the NM for about 3 or 4 frames then I switched to the BW for a few frames and so on.  Just a night of trying out the equipment.

I know there's a lot of hype with the BW and NM.  I do feel there great balls on the right conditions.  I just feel there more conditions specific than the PAIN.

So for those of you that are looking for a ball make sure you choose your equipment carefully and don't just grab the most popular ball.

On a side note.  The NM does have a hit to it that's different than all others.  It hit's very hard when you get it into the pocket.  It drives through the pocket with enormous power.  The continuation is nuts!

Even with the NM being condition specific i'm still glad I have it.  It's a neat ball and when on oil can be a killer.

Exactly.  I don't think the No Mercy and Domination are designed to be the same type of ball.
