Hammer Nail
« on: June 25, 2007, 11:37:36 PM »
I have just got hold of a Hammer Nail, but am finding it difficuilt to find any information regarding this ball. About all that i've come up with is that it is urethane. Just wondering if anyone has any information/links about this ball?

I checked around online and came up empty too; try the link below and conatct them ... MAYBE there is someone there that has access to what HAMMER was doing back in the 80s before they got bought up by Ebonite. Good luck !!!

Good old-fashioned hard urethane that took polish really well...it had the Hammer core.  Still quite playable on a THS, although you have to forego a coast-to-coast approach...

http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=153 is actually the Faball offering and not any sort of relabeled offering.

I'm assuming you have the original blue urethane Nail made by Faball, right?  If so, this ball has a hard urethane shell with the classic hammer core, (2-piece ball).  Much heavier rolling than the regular pancake 3-piece balls made during the same time period.  Designed to hook less than the original Black Hammer, but more than the Pink Hammer.

If I remember correctly, Marshall Holman used this ball quite a bit back when it came out.

I'll bet you have the original Nail (dark blue) but there was a reactive Nail from Faball as well in the 90s that was a lighter blue and had the R in the bullseye logo on the CG. That ball was quite good. Simple lightbulb core adn mild shell. Still have mine.
