Title: Thanks again to Hammer
Post by: Doug Sterner on February 27, 2011, 01:01:00 PM
While we all know that the ball does not define the bowler, I have to tip my hat to the folks at Hammer.

I drilled up a Blue/Silver Backlash last summer and I was in love with the NEW Hammer. Since then I have added a Midnight Vibe (which is just huge on the backend), a Venom (significantly smoother than I expected), a Trap (holy backend Batman!!!!) and a Jacked (great piece when the lanes are tight.)

My most recent drill is the Infection. I cannot say enough about this ball. I drilled it 70x5-1/2x65 with a P3 hole and this ball will do anything I ask of it. I can use it inside, outside, inside out, I can play with an up the back release, I can get around it for a skid/snap reaction and anything in between.

The combination of the Midnight Vibe (60x4x60 with a P3 hole) and the Infection have kept me and my partner (who is throwing an Acid) in our local doubles tourney. I shot 628 the first week with my Midnight and followed it up with a 707 the following week with the Infection. This is the first week of match play and the Infection again helped up to a win by helping me post a 700 series (225-195-280).

I cannot say enough about the Hammer brand right now...just incredible.

I, too, have been going with an all Hammer arsenal as of late.  It wasn't a conscious choice, it was just a matter of what works best for me after several weeks of comparing different balls.  Currently in the bag:

Black Widow Danger

Grind

Burn

Midnight Vibe

As they lay a fresh pattern just before league starts, I've pretty much just throw the Grind and might switch to the Burn if I need to increase length and angle.

I wanna be a house hack when I grow up.

Whoo-Hooo, I just ordered one (Infection) also Doug, to go under my Taboo!

Jake, I tried a Taboo drilled with the length and smooth arc layout and I did not care for it. This Infection though is the berries for me.

I have a Plague coming from mediumrevs15. I am hoping that will be my heavier oil piece.

At this point the only balls I am not in love with are the  Taboo and the red/purple Backlash. Both could be functions of layout though I suppose.

The Infection and the Blue/Silver Backlash are the perfect 1-2 punch for me.

+1 on the praise and thanks for the hammer line - I was a Hammerhead back in the 80's - took 20 years off and figured in coming back, might as well start with the Hammers (I know it was Faball back then, but started with it anyway). Current lineup:

Burn

Midnight Vibe

Trap

Faball Black Hammer - spare ball

I've got a 277, 2 - 278's a 279 and 2 - 299's (7 pin and a 10 pin) this season - so not looking back, or regetting the decision to go all Hammer all the time.
