The one I tried rolled very well. So some folks might be impressed by the reaction.
Apparently this is the order of importance when buying a new ball:
1) Color
2) Name
3) Is there a video on BR?
4) Brand
5) People’s opinions (especially the frequent posters) about the ball on BR
6) Reaction of the ball from the above video regardless of the style of the bowler and the condition it was thrown on
7) Price on the internet
It saddens me that the local pro shop’s recommendation based on seeing you bowl often is ignored.
Sorry for the high jack……….back to the lame name/cool name thread

new core and cover technology would be my guess...

Disagree!
here the other peoples oppinion - or in other words - a ball's reputation/image is most important... color? BLAH! Name? BLAH!
Here the english forums are ignored more or less... "how does it work for my buddy?" is the question.
that's why a whole team bought Dooms only...
Black widow pearls are as often as the dooms...
All about the ball's image

I agree, who's going to want this?Hammer's best selling ball has a spider and a cool name on it.the Sauce?it's a joke, right?I can see the ad for Hammer now.
Be careful with the Sauce or it will leave a stain!

it looks too much like the tnv
-
It's up on the Hammer site now. Great video of Jeff throwing it and a pretty cool website they've done with it. tastethesauce.com
-
Well they gave up on the stupid drilling idea's that never worked for me, that is the positive out of this ball.
I agree it is the exact color scheme of the TNV, bad name could be a good ball has potential with super low rg and decent diff.
Nothing like throwing Jeff's sauce all over the place lol
-
Tha ball looks like a Total NV.

Obviously the name should not deter someone from buying a ball but I bet it does have an influence.
What I don't understand is if they're going to name a ball why not just pick a cool name?

What, like... The One????
The Big One
and so on....
All great balls but seriously with the names?
-
It may look the same online but I would bet that Black Violet and Gold at 4k abralon no polish looks quite different than a TNV

I like the ad campaign! Mixing your own sauce has some funny results.

I'm a pro shop owner (15 years and counting) so I know about shelf appeal. I'm not shocked about it, I'm just amazed that anybody who is serious about the sport still worries about names and colors.
-
If a bowler finds two balls equally appealing in the performance category, something has to "break the tie"...

I think the name of this ball is great! It's kind of quirky and it's fun. Also, a name is definitely not everything to a ball. The goods are with the reaction and the look of the ball. The ball is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye with the black, Purple and Gold. Hammer can also easily build off of this name for further additions into the line.
Off of the video from the Hammer website, I am getting giddy at the thought of being able to throw this new piece of equipment. It's very smooth and aggressive. Very controllable from the look of it. As soon as I get my hand on one, I will definitely be back to post a mini-review...

I think Hammer is on to something here that I did'nt think about ealier.put up an expensive new ball with a silly name and the colors of something that's been out a few years and sell more widow's.

-
If I didn't get my Cell drilled on saturday, this would be a ball that had my interest. I was looking for a replacement for my Big One, especially something with a low RG.
This is the first since quite some time, that I'm interested in Hammer again. This could be a start of an interesting line of bowlingballs.

Its ingenious, they have a whole line of these they can make:

Is this the reason people like Storm? Because of their shelf appeal? I know everyone that I bowl with when I get a storm ball is going to say,
"What does it smell like?"
"It's supposed to be chocolate cherry"
"That smells good, so that ball must be good"
"Sighs..."
Beans might have a winner here to go along with his "secret sauce" yumm...

wow i wonder type of shot it is in the video. cuz the first set of shot when he was crossing the arrows at 18, is my normal fresh THS line. and im using and arch rival right now in a fairly strong layout. i was really interesed when he was playing 5th arrow because that is what kind of ball i need now...for long sport and heavy house shot. i think i am considering this ball now. ill have to check with my proshop guy about it. im debating between the momentum swing, resurgance and now the sauce.

I saw someone asked what the shot was Jeff was bowling on, I had already emailed to ask to see it on some PBA patterns he said they just didnt have the time to shot those but the shot was:
"It was a 39' house shot with a very level blending (or flatter) type of
pattern. Not a lot of hold in the middle, and not a lot of recovery to
the right. Thanks!"
Thats what he sent me in the email
