Hey Group
I am thinking about getting a VIBE for my arsenal. I need something that isnt over powering
Something for the 3rd game when the lanes are drying out and yet there is still some oil, I have a dry lane ball called the HORNET which is from Lanemasters but I need something with a little more pop!!
I ws thinking about the (Red) Cherry-VIBE, so whats everyones opinions on the Cherry-VIBE? btw, I am a stroker/tweener. Thanks for your input.

You can't go wrong on the Cherry Vibe. I have two and they shine on the exact conditions you are wanting one for!
-
Thanks TDC57, I was starting to think that no one was listening

I don't like mine, WAY to early.
-
Cherry Vibe: Good length with strong backend.
Emerald Vibe: More length with strong but more angular backend.
Can't go wrong with either.

Hey Group,
Well, I ended up getting the Cherry Vibe and the conditions that are in my house this summer the ball is kinda strong however, I find throwing it out and wheeling it
the ball is superb.
So here is my next question: what ball would be next up on the Hammer ball list as far as power/hook goes? I have a Widow-Pearl which I do not care for.
I was thinking about the Widow Venom but I dont know if that would be similar to the above mentioned even though its not a pearl. The conditions at my house cant remain this poor (waaaaay low in the oil dept.)
So what would be your suggestions for a true med-oil ball? I like standing around 20/30 starting off and then of course following the oil, I throw around 15/16mph and can play straight up or wheel it...although I do prefer to wheeling it
.
Hmmm, It sems the Burn just might fit the bill too...

Vibes are a good group of balls, but be aware that they are WAY stronger than advertised before you drill one.

Jake, I got a Burn JUST WAITING FOR YOU!!!

--------------------
Use "IT" and BOWL UP A STORM!!
-
i didn't like the widow pearl either jake im thinking about the hot sauce. ive liked all the raw hammer line balls that ive tryed.
-
so would the "Burn" be a good ball to go above the Cherry Vibe for med-oil conditions...

If you're looking for a skid/snap monster, yes it'll go above the Cherry nicely.

Watched Billy O'Neil throw the Onyx today.. Looked super good.. Nice and smooth on the back..

So with all things being equal
with the Cherry vibe and the Emerald Vibe and the Onyx vibe having the same drill pattern on a THS shot what would be the differences?

jake take a look at the acid.
-
+1 on the Acid. Tremendous ball that will fit nicely above your Cherry Vibe.

the emerald is longer and more angular than the cherry generally..
and the onyx is very similar to the blue vibe. its earlier than both the emerald, and cherry and smoother.. but still stronger dont get that mistaken..

go with the acid very very underated ball smooth and strong. mine took cover changes great the anger is a phenominal ball too if ya need a very rolly ball
-
Ok, so the ONYX is looking pretty good to me right now.
However, what SOLID ball would have the same type of reaction that the BURN has? just wondering and hoping that its another ball thats priced under $115.oo

jake the acid is a solid. put some polish on it to get a snapper look.
-
As a solid almost nothin will get that look imo.. The acid with polish still won't be as much on the backend.. The closest thing maybe a jigsaw but that's will mostly be for heavier stuff unless it's polished..

yeah but jake is looking for a step up from the cherry not 4 steps up

Last nite in league my buddie came over and we were talking about our new ball purchases, mine being the Cherry Vibe and his being a Onyx Vibe
so I tell him that his ball is the more aggressive one of the two.
So he is two pairs over from me and after a couple of frames he comes over to me and starts asking about why his ball is somewhat weak especially since his driller had told him that he had drilled it strong. But after he settled down he goes on and rolls a nice 280 just playing between the first two arrows. I had to throw my weaker Cherry Vibe out over the 3rd arrow and wheel it ( I love that shot) since it was way to strong for playing up the boards.
However, I couldnt carry the corners last nite at all with my Cherry Vibe and my friend couldnt miss, LoL, but it was fun as usual!

The Onyx is an aggressive arcing ball while the Cherry leans more towards the skip/snap in backend reaction. This doesn't mean the Onyx is weak, it just has a different reaction shape. It will also handle more volume than the Cherry.

this is the reason I said jigsaw in my last post..

in the hammer line other that the jigsaw nothin will have close to as much backend thats solid..

Ok, so I threw my new ONYX last night in league. The shot was terrible like it has been ALL summer. Massive carry down and heavy oil in the middle with some out of bounds.
Since I thought the ONYX was going to be aggressive right out of the box I played it that way so by playing it that way my first game was freaking terrible, I experienced a lot of over under until the OOB shine wore off and the lanes started mellowing out which really took about two full games.
But after I got kinda used to the reaction I started seeing what this ball can do. I started playing up the boards, which resulted in some bad splits and also some washouts then I moved in a little and the same thing happened….
In the 3rd game the lanes were getting somewhat better and the ball was losing some of its OOB shine and I was standing 25/30 and bellying the ball and it was coming back very, very, strong. I loved the way it moved off of the dry.
Tonight will be a better test for me as the Wednesday night league usually is a better shot and I can usually start the night by playing inside which I do prefer. I’ve got mine with the pin above the ring finger, like I said tonight will be a much better condition for me to throw it on so stay tuned.
Btw, I am seriously thinking about getting either the Venom or the Burn...

Jake,
I can vouch for the ONYX being squirty on carrydown...ran into that quite a bit last night while practicing...but once I moved right, holy cow did the ball just keep on going...
If you want longer in length and a lot of backend reaction..go with the Burn...comparatively against the Venom..you'll see the Venom start to react sooner in the mids while still being aggressive but have more of an arc to the pocket...in my opinion, the Burn will work better on medium conditions. Hope this helps! God Bless!

Yeah, but the way it moves off the dry is very impressive to me, especially since its a low end ball, good grief it was sweet.
One shot in particular that I rememeber so well is when the lanes started getting playable I threw it 'tween the 3rd an 4th arrow to see what she would do, well, I threw it a little to hard and it blew by the break point and was about to go in the gutter but I managed to hit it at the bottom of my swing so
as its revving up and starting to set it finally does and it actually hung over the gutter but turned at the last second and then set up and made a monster move to the pocket and destroyed the pins...I still cant believe that it didnt drop in the gutter, LOL
After getting familar with the ONYX it will be a fun ball to use. This Hammer
addiction all started when I got the CHERRY VIBE two weeks ago and loved the way it rolled

Jake,
I'm thinking about giving a Cherry a try and just to see how it would be comparison wise to the Onyx. If I manage to get my hands on one, I'll try and post a video. I have been wanting to post some new videos but with the full time schedule working in the shop its been very hectic, especially since fall season and leagues are getting ready to start up again!
So lucky you for being able to throw the Cherry
God Bless!

Hey Mike
I think you will really like the CHERRY VIBE but like the ONYX it does need to bump off of the dry to see its work
Well, I tried the ONYX again last night but as usual my house had a terrible shot out but I did use it for 1 1/2 games and then the CHERRY. Both balls worked well when called upon.
Just like normal though I threw 3 beautiful pocket 7 - 10 splits with the ONYX
on the same lane, due to the extreme conditions <sigh>
Have a great day HammerHeads....
