acid vs the sauce
« on: December 03, 2008, 08:03:15 PM »
hey there, looking for some input.  im looking to get a new ball, and im torn between getting the acid or the sauce.  at least those are my top 2 choices.  i 3rd choice is the storm virtual gravity, but thats another post.  hehe.  i have a hammer psycho which i really like, but im looking for something more agressive.  i throw the ball about 14-15 mph, not a lot of hand, but can play various lines depending on what the lanes give me.  i was looking at the videos on the hammer website and i like both of them, but i need something to compliment the psycho.  thx..andy

If you go with the Sauce it is a more agressive ball than the Paycho. Depending on the lane conditions you throw on it may be a one game or 1 1/2 game ball when the shot starts to break down.

If you want something that compliments the Psycho get the Acid. It fits nicely in the Raw line between the Anger and the Psycho. It is longer than the Anger and more agressive on the back than the Psycho.  The ACid preforms well on various lane conditions.

Heavy oil ball is The Sauce

Med to med heavy oil is The Acid

i have a sauce and absolutely love it!!

i am thinking of getting an acid to compliment the sauce for when the sauce is too much. and then maybe doing a psycho pin up for when the acid is too strong.

anyone have an acid and polish it? or is still pretty strong off the spot with its oob surface?

Sauce vs Acid:

The Sauce is 4.5 x 3 with a balance hole up high to account for the static weights. Out of box this ball outhooks the Anger about 5-7 overall, but in different parts of the Lane. The Sauce starts up sooner than the Anger and definitely sooner than the Acid. The Sauce has more of an overall strong roll motion, while the Anger still has a pop to it.

The Acid:

1st Acid was drilled 4.5 x 3 (pin under ring) and a very small balance hole on the midline to account for static weights. This ball is completely smooth. It fits perfectly in between the Anger and Psycho on basis of ball motion and overall reaction. The Acid comes out at 4000 Abralon in comparison to the Anger (2000) and the Psycho (4000 with Factory Finish). The Acid is smoother through the front of the lane than the Anger, and still reads the midlane nicely. The Core of the ball, (Assault Core from Psycho) helps the ball get more gyration and helps it turn over nicely once it makes its move.

2nd Acid was drilled 5.5 x 4 3/4 (pin above middle with cg in center of grip, no hole). This Acid gets further down the lane than the 1st acid because of the pin placement. It still has a smooth ball motion but is extremely continuous through the backends. It still does not scoot down the lane as far as the Psycho. When factory finish is place on this ball, it becomes even cleaner through the heads, retaining a lot of energy for the backend. Even though it has more snap on the backend, it still doesnt not have the major pop on the back that the Psycho does (which is a good thing because you don't want overlap).

The Acid overall is more aggressive than the Psycho in the midlane, and still has a strong continuous backend motion. It would be a great one-two punch combination in anyones bag. The Sauce, is definitely more aggressive than The Acid. That would be a great 3 ball combo if you are interested in possibly getting both. Sauce, Acid, and Psycho. The Sauce will handle more volume than the Acid overall. The Sauce is more aggressive than the Anger which is more Aggressive than the Acid, so in reality it's a two ball drop from the Sauce to the Acid.

A good combo suggestion would be an Acid, because it will be more aggressive than the Psycho, and if the lanes have more gush than usual, a 2000 Abralon to the surface would be helpful to get more motion in the heavier condition.

Hope this helps

sounds like my idea about the acid and psycho might work well with the sauce.

thanks for your info ShermDawg!!
