NO MERCY BEAT 'N ~ What's Your Layout?
« on: December 01, 2007, 05:14:37 AM »
I always hear/read about how aggresive, or how much backend the Beat 'N has. I haven't seen a Beat 'N yet that out performs a Black Widow. My Beat 'N is pin over the ring, MB right of the thumb. It in now way compares to my Widow or other BW's I've seen.

Just curious what has worked best to make your Beat 'N come alive??

Just curious...are you a lefty? If not, your driller may be mis-informed on how exactly to drill a No Mercy series ball. The No Mercy series balls DO NOT have a "mass bias," they have a HART. The HART is to be placed on the track side of your thumbhole, if you are right handed, this would be the LEFT side of your thumb. Putting the HART on the right side of a right handed bowlers thumb would almost for sure kill any reaction you might get with this ball. It would actually be one of weakest drillings you can put on it.

My NMB outhooks my BW by a difference of 5-7 boards adjustment with my feet. Definitely more ball, for sure. Both are great balls, but the BW is not even in the same class as the Beat'n. Maybe a re-drill would be in order for you.

This might help:

Sounds like you've got the #4 drilling, which provides length with a smooth arcing backend. #1 may have been a better choice if you wanted it to be real strong.

The HART is still a MB in theory isn't it? The way I've understood from their site anyway. I'm a righty also.

I've seen an original No Mercy, drilled stacked leverage, for a right, pin, cg and HART all stacked right. That balls hooks a ton, just as a normal MB ball layout would.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Hammer equipment. I'm just trying to find out what layouts people have used that really bring this Beat 'N to life.

Hopefully you didn't mis-read that as me being a jerk or anything, that's not how I intended it at all.

My NMB is drilled pin above my bridge...which is 5" to PAP, hart left of thumb between my 1st and 2nd flare ring. Ball is a monster. I just got a No Mercy drilled with the #1 layout...can't wait to see how much this ball moves.

On edit: Just thought about it, and I kind of had the same thing with my Beat'n at first, try playing with the surface a little, I took mine down to 2000 abralon, and it came alive. just a thought.

sorry to say bub, but what you have your no mercy laid out as is a control type of drill. Gets easy length with a controlled backend. The recommended drill layout is the MB to the left of the thumb with pin being next to ring finger.

Matt Fortney~ No, I know what you're saying, I wasn't taking you as a jerk. Hope I didn't sound like that either, lol. I know alot of people had some great success with their NMB, and wondered if anyone else had that drilling.

Thanks for the input guys!

fatboy, if the NMB has the HART right of the thumb for a right handed bowler, it's going to make the ball considerably weaker than if the HART was left of the thumb.

The HART IS NOT the same thing as the MB.  In fact, the MB is probably 4" right of the HART!

The idea of this concept is to drill a ball strong with out the need for a balance hole.  Just place the HART in ones ball track and your good to go.  Keep in mind not to place the pin in too strong of a location because the ball has a very strong core and will flare a lot!  Placing the pin any closer than 4" from ones PAP will make the ball have less in the back end and more in the mid-lane.

This type of ball really needs to be drilled based on the bowlers PAP.
