maybe it is just me, but I am very disappointed in my new switch blade. I bought it to fill the gap between my blade particle and blade pearl. Instead, it fills the gap between my blade pearl and my white dot.

I have it drilled the same as my blade particle with the pin to the right and up a bit from the finger. CG is below it and to the shade to the left. My Particle covers a lot of boards with this drilling, but my switch blade only covers about 3. I am having to move over about 8 boards and move my entry (my mark is down the lane past the arrows) from about 15 to about 7.

Did I just pick a bad drilling pattern or has anyone else had these issues?

It isn't a bad ball at all, when the lanes are too dry for my Pearl, this ball gives me a great shot, I was just confused by the reaction I got as opposed to the reviews I read.

i drilled mine with pin above bridge with cg in my palm and this ball was plesantly strong!  It had same break pointt as my original blade just on a little bit weaker condition.  This ball has a weak cover on it it has the original vicious resin cover which is pretty weak i suggest a original blade if you want to fill the gap you are speaking of.

This ball is alot weaker than I thought it'd be but after throwing it at Demo day I thought it'd be great for getting through drying heads and still be able to get good recovery on the backend.  I have mine drilled pin over finger and C.G. under(3 inch pin).  It's about 3-5 feet longer than the Deal I have but still as sharp on the backend.  I love it.  I still need something weaker for the dirt though, but that is coming soon.

May I ask on what basis you did that?
That is partly a rhetorical question but I am interested. It might be more important to ask yourself why you expected that and learn where you disappointed yourself and how.

That's what I would have expected from reading the review in Bowling This Month magazine. Many us get sucked into the hype of a new ball from the manufacturer, from friends using it or from someone here on ballreviews screaming its praises. I got sucked into an Intense Inferno that way. I had no idea what to expect so I put a label leverage drilling on it; that usually works for me one way or the other.

Finding that a ball with the drilling we chose is not what we wanted is a hard lesson that we may have to repeat to learn properly.

I don't see that the drilling is bad; this ball is just meant for drier conditions. So, it is weaker than your Blade Pearl and needs more dry to make the turn. Of course, you need to move further outside, which can be a very good thing. Carry percentages are always much higher on an outside line. See, there is a bright side.

I am not picking on you. We all, myself included, need to make sure we learn this lesson, if only not to waste money, but also so many other obvious reasons. This is also why good ball reviews are so important: lots of details.

As a solution, I think the good old Blade reactive, still in Hammer's lineup, may be the perfect ball between the Blade Pearl and the Blade Particle. With the Switch Blade, that should give you a real arsenal. The Saw Blade may also fit in that notch.

IMO, the Saw Blade is more than the Blade Particle.  I have a Blade Particle coming(Thanks Tx Haus) so I'll find out.  Big Block Diesel would be awesome between those two balls, or the original blade if you like the motion of the blade series.

I finally got to use it in league last night. It is stronger than I originally thought and can do damage from the outside line.

I was also disapointed with this ball, drilling pin to the right and just below ring, CG in palm. Granted it's not a strong drilling but this ball didn't move as advertised. I normally play on a THS that's knee deep down the middle but dry as bone on the outside.  If I hit the outside it would come back, but I could never get it to move far enough out and in without slowing way down.  I took the polish off, didn't do too much, then went to 800, moves better but still not as much as I hoped. So then I went to 400 grit! The 2nd game when the oil is starting to move around is best for this ball, the first game it's too wet, the 3rd game it's too dry.  Because it's so dependant on the cover now it makes it unpredictable. So I bought an Animal, I'll probably just bring it back up to 800 and save it for when the lanes are dry and my animal is too much.  Or just polish it and use it as a spare ball.
