Hammer Demo Day & Opinions

I threw a few this past sunday and watched some being thrown.

-Big Blue wasn't availible but the pro shop guy had one and I watched my friend throw it.  The reaction out of this ball is something else.  Revs up really hard in the midlane and make an aggressive arc from there on.  This should be a big hit when it comes out.

-Power Diesel was the strongest ball there.  It rolled out for me because it uses so much of its flare so early.  About 5 1/2-6 inches of flare out of this ball in a dull surface needs lots of oil in the heads and midlane.  The movement out of this ball is so strong that it made it hard to adjust because when it moves it takes off so strong that your basic 2-1 3-2 adjustments don't work.

-Vicious Strike was very nice and very strong.  Has a similar look to the original Vicious Particle but a bit more pronounced movement when it makes its turn.  I heard someone say that was their favorite and it is very adaptable with different drillings and surfaces.  One of the reps said he had 3 of them with all different reactions.  The finishing power was incredible might I add.

-Sling Blade was okay but not better than the Blade Pearl IMO.  It was a bit earlier than I thought but gave the best and most consistant read out of everything that was there.  

I didn't get a chance to throw the Sharp Blade, Attack or Turbo.  I heard a few say the Sharp gave excellent length and an angular breakpoint for a dull ball.  With polish a few said it was excellent on medium-light.  The Vicious Strike seemed to be everyone's favorite.

Power Diesel has a good move but don't believe it is that strong. To me it compares very well to a X factor Deuce. I was actually pretty excited because it cleared the heads for me better than anticipated but still had a nice mid lane read and angular backend. This could be dependant on the drill pattern I put on it. How were they drilled for the Demo Day? Sharp blade is quite angular and gets real good length for a dull ball.

All demo day balls are drilled with the pin under the ring and C.G in line with it stacked under.  Balls with mass bias had them in the strong position and in the weak position which I thought was a great feature so you could see how the tuning of the mass bias can affect the reaction.

I also had the opportunity to attend one of the Hammer Demo Days in Indianapolis.  No Big Blue there either.  I pretty much agree with DP3 take on the balls in saw.

I will add that of all the ones I threw, I liked the Sharp Blade best of all of them.  I actually wasn't expecting much out of this ball.  Earlier and stronger version of the Sling Blade I figured.  I was surprised when I was able to get decent length out of the ball and then a great hook and hit in the back end.  The thing I really liked about it though is that I could square up and hit the pocket and carry, I could bump the shot and it would hit and carry, and, if I slowed my speed down, I could move even deeper inside and hit and carry.  Clearly, this ball was the sleeper for me.  I liked the Vicious Attack but this ball gave me a nice look.
