Big Blue cracked - Need replacement
« on: February 01, 2007, 12:48:04 PM »
Unexplicably, my faithful Big Blue developed a split the other night.  I say unexplicably because I have never left it out in the cold and in fact when I set it on the rack it was fine...I went to start warm-ups and it there wa a 6" split all the way from the weight hole to the fingers.  You can see that not only did the coverstock split but the white inner core did too...weird.

Anyway, I am looking for a replacement because the Big Blue was the only "heavy" oil ball that I own.  So what I want is a ball that will open up the lane for me on heavier oil patterns...especially on hard surfaced synthetic lanes like the Brunswick Pro Anvil lanes that are in my bowling center.  The Big Blue seemed to do this well for me.

So, here are some of the balls that have stuck out to me from reading reviews:

-Hammer Hawg
-Storm Double Agent
-Hammer Black Widow...(too jumpy??)
-Ebonite Big One

My ball speed is about 16.5 mph, PAP 1" up, 4" over, medium-high revrate.  The Big Blue was drilled with the layout 3 "Strong" layout as currently shown in the Black Widow drilling book (it uses the same gas mask core).
