I have spent the last 6 months gathering Hammer product to replace my Lane 1 arsenal. I have managed to gather a lot of used stuff which works best for me considering the amount of lane damage our lanes tend to cause. I am seeking some advice on what balls should stay and what balls are redundant.....

Here's what I have accumulated. Balls with layouts listed are drilled and currently being used. All others are fully plugged and resurfaced ready to drill.

Axe

Red/Purple Backlash 50x5-3/4x40

Blue/Silver Backlash 60x4x60 P2 hole

Black Widow Venom 45x2-3/4x25 P2 hole

Midnight Vibe 60x4x60 P3 hole

Jigsaw Trap 50x3-7/8x40 P2 hole

Plague 50x3-7/8x40 P2 hole

Infection 60x5-1/2x75 P3 hole

Black Widow Nasty 45x3-3/4x40 P2.5 hole

Raw Hammer Jacked pin under ring, cg out, low hole (sorry, no dual angle layout on this one)

Lane1 Tsunami .....55x2-3/4x25 P1 hole

So...what do I drill and put in the bag and what do I put on the auction block??? Any and all intelligent responses are welcomed :-)

I was a big fan of the Jigsaw series so I am partial to them, however they aren't for everyone. I see you have your Trap already drilled. I used to hate this ball when I first got it, never a solid pocket shot and the carry really sucked. I polished it, rolled a few more games with it, and got more used to it and now I can't put it down. I will say that my pro shop told me it was for dry to medium but I noticed that it performs a lot better on medium to heavy. IMO it's still a very condition specific ball, so don't get frustrated if it's not performing the way you want it to early on. The corner I actually got used. I had some luck with this ball, it was the first one I bought after getting back into the game, however it started to roll way too early for me and was losing it's carry (maybe because it was used who knows). However, I bled the oil and wiped it down with a little Isopropyl so I am anxious to see the results. One thing though, it seems this ball was really fragile, almost every time it went through the ball return I noticed either a chip or a scratch. And one more thing, I don't own the BW Venom but I know someone who does on our league and he seems to be doing rather well with, raised his average a couple of pins, but he pretty much just plays straight up 1st and 2nd.

Right now my Infection and the Trap are my go to balls. I have also had some success with the Nasty andthe Plague. My Blue/Silver Backlash is my favorite ball for our 5 man leagues since it is not as sensitive to the lane breakdown as my other stuff.

I am going to replace my Axe (since it is cracking around the holes) with either the Pink Hammer or the Blue Pearl Nail since it will double as a dry lane ball.

I am going to redrill the Onyx Vibe with the same layout as the Tropical Heat Hybrid...that should fill that slot well. I am also considering redrilling one of the used Midnight Vibes like the Tsunami and working the coverstock.

Any opinions?

I'm in the process of trying to find out where I fit in the bowling world. I do not know my tech specs of my game, but it's all a learning process.

if youre looking to duplicate the reaction of the tropical heat with the same layout on the black vibe it wont be nearly as angular. i think if you were to put it on the midnight vibe it would be closer.

NK....I have had the ball for sale on here for over 2 years now and nobody wanted it so I redid the plugwork, resurfaced it and am thinking of using it next season!

cheech....If I redid the Midnite Vibe like the Trop Heat Hybrid, do you think I could get the Tsunami reaction out of the Onyx

Definitely replace the Axe with the Pink Hammer. The Pink Hammer was/is the most consistent dry lane piece I have ever used, and was a mainstay for me back during the days of "short oil", and easily capable of serving as a spare ball on medium to heavy conditions.

I wish I could find one in my current weight (14lb) without having to spend an arm and a leg for it. The NIB one on ebay went for around $200, and I can't go there.

Well Jugger I got this single drill 15# Pink off ebay a week ago for about $70. It's in great shape and won't require too much plug work....

ummm i dont know about that. i dont have any experience with lane 1 stuff and ive only seen a couple tsunamis thrown. from my impression i feel like the black vibe is naturally earlier so you may way to increase the drill angle or pin distance
