Thats illegal. One has to have a consistent surface on the ball.

It is illegal in the USBC but it is tough to enforce. It's legal in the PBA...

I have 2000 thousand on mine. Bowled on medium /heavy oil and ball is very consistent. Not real flippie on backend and thats what I wanted.

1000 is great for the fresh for me

my president of my league saw me do it when i scuffed the back flares and he never said that it was illegale but i just changed the surface to 2500 sanded this just allowed the ball to down the lane but it would get into a roll a little bit earlier

I've left mine at 4000 so far, and it works really well. I just make sure to remember to clean it on the regular, though its just a habbit I got into a while ago for all my equipment.
