NM Typical Series for Me...Last Thurs.
« on: December 11, 2006, 01:46:03 PM »
508.....it's gone.  Hope somebody will be happy with it. I wasn't.  Every ball doesn't match up to every bowler and all balls aren't great as many would have you believe.

Don't give me the burn out crap or it's drilled wrong.  It's a dud for me so down the road.  No more Hammer for me though they match up well for many.  Played with it too long....trying to give it a chance 6 different surfaces 3 different layouts....nada.

BTW.....rolled 686 tonight with a LM/L Big Bang so it's not just me...douchebags.

I sold it after 6 games to sixpack he liked it but sold it off to try another drilling, it was very lazy for me. Try a horizon solid and tell me you dont like that ball, trust me on this one if you want a winner.

I think the HZ Solid is a hot ball Barry.  Steve Richter/RG talked me out of it probably will get one someday.

cramnosbod:

Apparently you missed the PBA this sunday. Parker Bohn (who IS a GREAT bowler and I'm sure knows his equipment inside out)switched between 2 balls in the final with no luck and only in the 10th frame pulled out a Total Inferno and got a beautiful read to strike out.

We all cannot make the right equipment decision on demand and are often times in the pocket but just not carrying. Do you sacrifice a frame or two to try another ball, or stay with what's getting you in the pocket and try to make subtle adjustments to improve carry?

I think Scotts33 was giving the NM a chance to prove itself and it just wasn't a good match for his game on that condition.

The other night in league during warm ups using a NM I had an awful look to the pocket but I stayed with it, made a couple adjustments in the first few frames and ended up shooting 300/781...........and I am not a "great bowler"....LOL.

if the ball dose'nt match you're style conditions or for what any reasons, you have to decide if it's worth keeping around or off it in hopes to get some of you're investment back to go out and try something else.the longer you wait the less return you will get so by all means, off it.

bowlr225 it is called marketing hype with a fancy logo, i personally think it is big piece of something special myself. One of the worst rolling balls i have ever owned, yes i am horrible bowler but guess what there are way better balls that actually make crappy bowlers look good. I doubt you are any good otherwise what is your bowl id number and pba number???? Another fake joke on this website, guys like bowlr225 is why i do not like it much on here anymore. I am here mainly to sell stuff and waste what little free time at work i have, otherwise guys like bowlr225 are waste of the oxygen we all breath.

Yep, I'm a house hack and a moron.  Most of the guys that posted on this thread WALLSHOT, Rags, mrbowlingnut, Inverted/DF, 6pack........have been around BR a bit and know of me a little.  You other two guys know nothing about me.  I'll leave it at that.

To many come on BR and say nothing but good about a piece that may or may not match up.  Be honest once in awhile folks.  Lil rant nothing wrong with that either.

I'll be honest and say that I am not a high tracker and this is probably one of the biggest influences as to why this ball did not work well for me.

I'll also say that I really think the Pain, Doom and BW are very good balls.  I am more ticked at Hammer for allowing misaligned balls to leave the factory.

Live and learn....not a big deal.

Scotts33... I give you credit for giving the ball every chance possible. Kind of the way I feel about the Black Widow. I gave it a chance, wasn't for me for whatever reason and I moved on. However, I am glad I gave Hammer another chance and picked up the Doom. Early returns are very promising but I'll know more after my leagues the next 2 nights. How's the Buzz working for ya?

it's very simple,if it dose'nt work for you then you're not going to be a happy bowler.to insult anyone for their opinion on a certain ball, company, whatever is sub-par mindless dribble.

Scott-
Sorry you didn't match up with the NM.  I remember charlest doing something similar with a Shock and Awe...bunch of different layouts and cover preps.  Like you said, sometimes you just don't match up.  I happen to love both the SnA and NM.

I recently tried out a Domination as a skid flip ball in my arsenal.  I wasn't nearly as patient with it as you were with the NM.  I know a lot of people that love the Domination, but it was garbage in my hands.  I traded it for a NM and haven't looked back.  Good luck with that Big Bang.

Scott, I just drilled up a NM last night. The Pin to PAP was just barely 4 inches. The Pin ended up just barely above and to the side of the ring finger. It took a lot of re-mapping the layout to get it the way that I wanted, so that I could get a minimum 4 inch dimension, not have to drill into the Pin, have the Hart in the track, and have the CG in a position that I could bring it into specs without an additional weight hole. The layout was pretty close to the Hammer #1 suggestion.

I tried it last night on Brunswick HPL's. The ball seemed to float about 40 feet, then rev up very fast and make a nice hard turn to the pocket. Very impressive backend move and hit. I'll be taking this to a PBA Regional this weekend.

I've had many balls in the past that just didn't match up to my style. For instance, the Brunswick Strike Zone. This is a great ball for almost everyone. I have never seen anyone struggle with this ball except me. I could not get the ball to move at all. I tried plugging, redrilling, coverstock prep, weight holes, etc. I finally gave up, just as you did with the NM.

Some bowler styles simply do not match up with certain equipment. This is the trial and error part of learning how to select the proper equipment for your game. Take a look at the specs for the NM, such as asymmetrical design, differential, etc. and see if you can find a clue as to what doesn't match up for you.

P.S Thanks for posting feedback. I read and reread all of the NM topics before mapping out my ball, and all of the opinions helped a lot. Good luck!
