Dry Condition Ball Help
« on: April 01, 2008, 12:20:27 PM »
I am a med speed bowler with a 185 avg, mainly because I hook the ball too much when the lanes dry out on a THS. I throw the ball normally either anywhere from the 5 to the 10 board. I can swing it out if needed from 12 to 5 depending on ball and conditions, Or should I get any of the balls redrilled to be tamer. See my profile for current arsenal. I need help .

I suppose "Move feet left" or "change hand posiiton" are not ballnames. You post on the Hammer forum so you maybe expect a actual Hammer brand ball. So here the options: There is no option.
The Vibes are the closest think to dry ball from Hammer but for must people they are not. If you have average ball speed and revs the cherry will be a skid snap medium ball (with the recommended layout) on must THS or Medium patterns, the blue one is also very strong. In conclusion your driller should measure your PAP, watch you bowling and tame this beasts with a proper layout. I hope this helps but its just my opinion.

Second that - if you want a dry lane ball, Hammer has no real 1st choice option in store right now. A polished Cherry Vibe with a tame drilling might be the best current ball option, but, honestly, I'd also look at other companies, too, who have simply "better" offers for this special purpose.

Besides, changing your hand position and/or add more speed and moving deeper are other non-equipment options to try. If you tend to play pretty close to the gutter, you'd have a lot of room (and probably more oil) when you swing the shot a little more - and then even a stronger ball might become ( more) effective.

It kind of looks like your arsenal isnt made for dry lanes.  So basically you are asking if you can a ball that is made for oil and make it for dry lanes....not really.  It's kinda like saying I have this piching wedge and want to make it a driver if I rebend it....Not happenin....Suck it up and get a dry lane ball.  You have a bunch of balls already.  Suck it up and buy another one.

To be perfectly honest with you, buying another ball probably wont help you much. If your bowling on a typical house shot and cant get it done with any 2 ball combo you have in that arsenal, then adding another isnt going to do you anygood. The lanes will still dry up in the same spot. You will need to learn to adjust more than a couple of boards
