I've had the Pain for a few months now, after owning the Doom for a year and thinking it was the nuts. The Pain has recently replaced my Doom as my fav ball, after continually notching up 250+ scores and 700+ series with it in the last 3 weeks or so, once i finally got control of its roll and reaction.
It is drilled with a 4 1/2 inch pin with CG in the centre of my grip, basically the same as my Doom, and where the Doom struggles with carry down, the Pain burns through it and hits the pins hard. The opposition in my league have been amazed with the hit and carry i'm getting, along with the high scores, on lanes that have a league on directly before us, as they are leaving a lot of 10-pins; their balls aren't finishing hard enough.
I've found i can bowl a similar line to my Doom (across 3rd arrow and out to 5 board), but with increased speed to get a similar reaction, and the Pain gives a better read, recovering well from the outside or holding the pocket if the shot is a bit tight.
I can't recommend the ball enough for medium-heavy oil lanes, and hope you have the same success with it that i have had.
