Your States High School Bowling Patterns
« on: January 21, 2016, 04:27:37 PM »
Trying to build a spreadsheet by state of what your High School Varsity Team bowls on for there regular meets.  Here in Michigan most all use a house pattern I have been told.  Does your state use a house pattern or a sport shot.  Just list your state and the pattern for regular season meets, if you would please. For our Regionals and State Tournaments we do use a sport type shot.  Thanks.

Illinois, house, everywhere. Some kids like to think in their heads its not house when they scuffle, but its house, all the time.

New York typically uses house shots everywhere.  However, the state tournament in 2014-2015 used Middle Road and the OOB was outside of 5.  Also, nobody in the state tournament was able to practice on the pattern prior.

im in western new york. the house our county bowls in uses 2 different house patterns for its leagues. one is the youth/league pattern which is slightly easier and one is the "mens" pattern which is slightly harder. both house shots though. our sectional tournament and the state tournament as stated above is on some sort of modified house pattern at least since 2004 which was the first time i bowled in it.

Wisconsin bowls on 3 different Kegal sport patterns.  Beaten Path, Broadway, and Middle Road.

New Mexico uses house shot.  Some times easy, some times not easy.  We don't even have a sport shot league in Albuquerque.  Rio Rancho does have one sport shot league.  Wish we had a sport shot league, but 90% of bowlers would complain because it's their social event of the week.

You're kidding right?  Nevada uses a beat up house shot in the afternoons after the
seniors are done.

From what I seen and remember Minnesota typically was just a modified house shot for bigger tournaments. It seems a majority are house shots.

PA is typically house shot for meets. At least it is in southeast PA.  Not sure about States, but can find out.

Edit:  Looks like once they get to regional (east and west) and States, they use modified house shots.  This link shows patterns used over the last few years at tournaments for High Schoolers.

Maine uses house shots, the only exception is for regionals and state singles high school tournament, where it's modified shots (i.e. Blue pattern).

Kansas is same as most in using house shot.  If time permits, kids get fresh run.  If no time after senior leagues, they get leftovers.  I only know of 1 tournament that uses easy Kegel pattern and it's coming this Friday in Wichita.  Funny the first year this was used was one of the easier Kegel patterns and the kids claimed reverse block.  Oh, how the typical house shot's super dry outside boards doesn't teach them anything.
