This is a quick first impression:

House shot - the Liberator allowed me to play 7-8 boards right of my normal shot. It rolled smooth down the lane and had a nice arc into the pocket. It didn't take off on the backend. It carried exceptionally well.

Comparisions: The only other Urethane I own is a Brunswick Groove Dark Blue. Compared to that on this shot, it has a much better read in the midlane and stronger arc towards the pocket. I would estimate an extra 3 boards of hook, playing pretty straight up. When I moved a bit left and swung it out into the dry, I was able to get it back to the pocket but if I missed inside the oil I left 4 pins and 7 pins with really lite hits.

The shot and my game didn't call for using this ball so I put it in the bag and grabbed my Lane #1 Buzzbomb.

First a little about me. I am a no thumb bowler. I have more revs then speed and over reaction is a major problem. I average well over 200 on THS but rarely bowl tournaments due to work commitments.

I drilled 2 of these up. Both 15# with roughly a 3 inch pin. Ball number 1 is roughly a 5.5 X 5.5. Ball number 2 is roughly a 4 X 5. Neither ball required a weight hole to make the statics legal.

I first tried ball # 1 on a fresh shot in box finish. It hooked more than I wanted. It also hooks in the wrong part of the lane. It started up at the arrows and then rolled out. I took the ball home and took it to 4000 and applied 3 coats of polish. I got a sheen finish. I could not get a true shine on the ball. The ball was now longer and weaker than out of box and was very successful playing the oil line of THS. Send it wide and it will recover but not over react. Pull it into the oil and it holds and carries. Plenty of area and good carry. I could move in deeper as the night went on and still score. I did notice that the ball needed enough friction or it would ping tens. I bowled well enough with this ball to warrant the purchase of another. I have only bought multiples of balls a couple of times in the past. That should give you a clue that I think the world of this ball.

Ball # 2 just has a stronger pin position. It was also too strong in box finish. This one I put in a luster king for 10 minutes. This also came out with a sheened finish. As expected, this ball is just a few feet earlier than ball # 1. When ball #1 hooks too late and is pinging tens, ball #2 will let me stand a hair deeper and kick the ten pin out. I will try #2 first and switch to #1 if #2 is too much. They are a great 1-2 punch for all the local houses.

I think the Liberator is way to strong to be a dry lane ball. I guess it could be useful on a tough pattern with plenty of oil in box finish, or a shorter pba shot polished. The ball is stronger than advertised, and I am unsure that bowlers will be happy with where it fits in there arsenal. Where I think the ball really shines is for people who are tired of standing in front of the ball return. Polish this ball up and you can move your feet 5 boards right of where you have to stand with a weak reactive piece. This is very attractive to me, and I'm sure other heavy handed players would enjoy covering a few less boards and retaining carry.

In conclusion, don't overlook this ball for a house shot if you have more revs than speed. The liberator with a polished cover is a great choice for the heavy handed when the lane provides some friction and over reaction is a concern. I can't see anyone sticking with box finish because it hooks so early when dull. You'll have to wait for the tournement guys to review the tough patterns, but I'd be surprised if the Liberator is your best options on many of those. When I have bowled tougher shots there has been more oil outside and the extra recovery of reactive has been welcomed.

In the short time I have had this ball I have achieved my high series (767) and bowled my first sanctioned 300. I can't say enough good things about this ball.

I have already reviewed this ball but I wanted to sing its praises in a semi-permanent way. I have 2 of these, but I mostly roll one that is 15# with a 3 inch pin. Cg is label and the pin is a bit right of ring finger. Basically a label 4X5 for me. No weight hole. Cover is 1000 with no polish. On a house shot I've had 2 300s and an 812 in league with this ball. I've had many other high scores as well but those are personal highs and were goals of mine. On a fresh house shot I can play the oil line with area and carry. I feel like this ball was made for me. I am a no thumb bowler, and this ball lets me harness that power and strike! I don't bowl tournaments as I work weekends, but this ball is money for me on THS. I can't put it down.
