We got our pair and immediately drilled one of them and got it on the lanes!
Using a Lane #1. favorite drilling pattern of (Label 2:00pin)
we went to the lanes which had already had two full sessions of Senior Leagues on them.
Knowing that this ball is stated for the Dry and "Spotty" lane conditions, we had hoped to play this one in its designed enviroment.

As we rolled the first game we found this Viper to get down the lane and give us a controlled and yet strong move to the pins!
The track area was pretty burned up on this pair so we were excited as we could play right up the dry part of the lane and not have the ball over react!

We could move inside and get this one back again with little effort!
(the dry lanes gave us the room to swing this one with great control!)

This Lane #1. ball will help thoses bowlers who struggle on the dry and fried lane conditions!

We rolled four complete games and found the ball smooth and strong!

I just got my Viper today. The pin was drilled out, it Was, where my ring finger is. I had a little trouble with the ball, the thumb is too large, I'm getting some tape, and I'll post another review later. What I did learn is this, if you bowl in a house where they are too cheap to put oil out like I do, you need this ball. It has the cover of the Rhino Series, and is every bit as controllable. Hitting power? It's a buzzsaw, nuff said. Folks, if you are anywhere near Simpsonville,SC, go see Frank Spada, he's a senior tour bowler, and driller, he'll fix you up right.

I set this ball up 3-3/8x3-3/8 with a 31/32 hole at 3-3/8 past my axis.
The funny thing about this ball is I messed up the drilling. I was SUPPOSED to put the hole at 6-3/4 from the pin through my axis. Instead, I put the hole 3-3/8 from my axis along the arc intersecting my center grip and axis.

Anyhow, the ball seems to work well on all conditions EXCEPT when there is no oil in the pines. In that particular case, the ball seems to expend all its energy just trying to get through the pines... then it hits flat.

Outside of that, I really like the read the ball gives me on the lane. While I won't go so far as to say this is a Buzzsaw Superball, it is VERY bowler friendly.

If my other equipment is making me work too hard to get the ball down the lane, I can always throw this ball to find a way to the pocket -- I'm not saying I'll carry, but I'll hit the pocket.

The amazing thing about this ball is the way that it breaks up crap. I mean, with other equipment, a nose-hit will leave me with a "Durbin" combo like the nasty-4 (don't know the real name for the 3-4-6-7-9-10). However, this ball seems to fly pins around VERY low to the deck, so I end up with a 3-pin instead. Same seems to hold for EXTREMELY light hits. Where other balls might leave me with the 2-4-8-10, this ball leaves the 2-pin.

It's really cool to watch.

All-in-all, I have this to say about my first experience with Buzzsaw:

I've left more 7-10 splits and "strong-7s" than I have in a while, however, I haven't left any 2-8-10 combination splits or "Durbin" clusters with the ball. From this, I've concluded that the core doesn't improve carry in the pocket (entry angle, axis tilt, axis rotation, and ball speed seem to still dictate pocket carry), but it sure makes those "oh crap" shots a lot less painful.

I think that maybe Buzzsaw should change their marketing scheme. Instead of the "more 300s and 800s per ball" campaign, they should have Jordan Nasberg on a commercial throwing the ball as crappy as he can (Jersey-squashers, Brooklyn, nose hits, fader wall shots) and still striking. THAT would be funny. They would only have to show it three or four times (just so that every can talk about it). Then the slogan could be "Want to be a pro, but you can't execute? Buy a Buzzsaw, we won't make you look better, but your scores will go up!"

BTW, this is not meant to take ANYTHING away from Jordan's game. He's a really good bowler and funny to boot. However, I just think he'd be perfect for the part. He's such a joker that those who know him would laugh... and those who don't would believe the commercial.

I really like this ball.  I bought it and had it drilled to go long and have a nice, smooth, and controlled arc.  I'm not sure what layout it is, but the pin is right under the ring finger.  Like the others have said, it is very forgiving if you tug it and it doesnt over-react when it hits the dry.  When my Messenger b/s/p flips too much for me, I can pull this out of the bag and swing 15 to 10 and let the ball do the work...  Hits like a truck.  Left a few 4-9's, solid 7's and 10's, but I never believed you could buy "carry" in a box.  I'm becoming a big fan of Lane #1.

just came back in July, after a 12 yr layoff... my how things have changed.

THIS BALL IS GREAT FOR DRY TO MED LANE CONDITIONS. I JUST GOT THE BALL A FEW WEEKS AGO AND CANT BELIEVE HOW CONSISTENT THE BALL ROLLS.  I HAVE THE BALL SET UP TO GO LONG AND SNAP BACK TO THE POCKET.  I HAVE USED THE BALL OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS.  I SHOT 686 AND 652 ON DRY LANES.  THAT IS AN AVERAGE OF 223 A GAME. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BALL FOR DRY LANES THAT HITS HARD,THIS IS THE BALL YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.  

UPDATE: ON 03/13/03 I USED THE VIPER AND SHOT 275-236-246 = 757 SERIES.  I HAVE BEEN ON FIRE WITH THIS BALL FOR THE LAST THREE WEEKS.  THIS IS THE BEST BALL THAT I HAVE BOUGHT TO THIS POINT. I GIVE THIS BALL A 12 OUT OF 10.

I AM A RIGHT HANDED BOWLER WITH A 203 AVERAGE.
