even w/ avg. hand this ball rev's up very strong in the pines providing you have enough oil to keep it on the right side of the head pin. ball is drilled w/5 1/2 pin located bolow the bridge w/ the cg 45 deg. weight hole on val 2 in below the axis.

After listening to lots of people rave about Lane 1 stuff I finally drilled out the pearl carbide.  I was going to set it up 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 leverage with an axis hole, but it had too much top weight.  Instead I leveraged the pin and kicked the cg out enough to give me 3/4 positive, then put a hole on the axis to bring it back down to about 1/4 positive. In box condition, it didn't look like a pearlized ball, but rather a polished solid.  I couldn't get it to move on a heavy long oil 10 board shot, even when I caught a couple of dry boards.  Took it back to the pro shop and had them put a 15 micron finish on it.  With the glaze off the finish it made a strong early move inside the oil line and arced nicely all the way.  I only threw about 10 shots with it after tweaking the cover, but at least two were light hits that really seemed to drop the pins low and clear them out fast.  Overall hook with the 15 micron finish is close to my rock solid, but the axis hole gives it a totally different look with a much more even arc.  The rock will be more versatile in heavy oil conditions, but it looks like the pearl carbide will give me some hit when I need to get in and play a little tighter.

First of all let me say WOW!  This is a very strong pearl.  I have this ball drilled 4x4 with a extra hole on my VAL. The pine is slightly higher and to the right of my ring, the cg is kicked out a little to the right.  It has 1/2 oz of  side wt. 1/4 oz thumb wt. and 1oz top.  I bowl in a synthetic house 34 feet 8 to 8.  On a fresh shot the ball will make it back to the pocket but not have the finish as the Carbide solid.  When the lanes go thru a transition then you better run for cover, this ball is a monster. It is the perfect complement to the Solid.  I play 15 out to 7 and the carbide just cuts down everthing thing in it's path.  Don't get me wrong, if I wanted to play the Pearl on the fresh shot, I can just play 10 to 7 and have the same reaction.  Carry with this ball is awesome. I rate this ball a 10

I got my Pearl cabide and drilled it up using drill pattern #1 on the drill sheet.  This is a plain label drilling with the CG slightly kicked out and tilted toward 3 oclock.  I used this for the first time on a house shot with heavy front oil and screaming back ends.  The ball hooked up well and carried everything except an occasional 10 pin.  This is a good compliment to the regular carbide for when the lanes a a bit drier.  Ill update this when I get a chance to through the ball a bit more on different conditions.  Thanks

Me:

speed 18.5
RPM 375
Lefty
PAP 5/12

Ball

Pin on PAP
Cg in line about 2 inches along midline.

I would first like to thank Scott and Lane 1 for putting this on auction.

I drilled this ball axis.  It was drilled for tournament shots with monster backend.  I tried it in league. Normal oily wet/dry condition. I will say that this ball hits better than anything I have. It outhits the XL, it outhits my recovery, that I thought hit great.

You know you have something when you have 4 people come down during the 1st game and ask what is that new ball.  Straight up 7-8 and crushola!
I actually regret drilling the carbide this way because I realize that I cannot use axis all the time. I know other drillings will be just as good and more flexable, on house shots.

This ball does just what lane 1 says it does.
It goes longer, and hits just as hard. Ball goes long and snaps
to the pocket.Destroys the pins. When the lanes start to dry up a little
or break down, the ball turns earlier, but some minor foot adjustments do the trick.
A very solid ball.

Ball is 15 lb, drilled it max leverage off the drill sheet from lane 1.  Ball wound up with 1/2 finger, 1/2 side static weight after drilling.  I have bowled with this ball on both synthetic and wood lanes.  So far the jury is out on this ball.  Tends to do well in oil, actually better than I thought.  Hits very, very hard.  And it does have a decent back-end.  The ball is very smooth in the middle when it makes it's move to the pocket.  You can use this ball in just about anything except soup, or extreme dry.  Give it a 9.

Well, i think i completed my arsenol.

Spirit sanded to 600 for heavy
Pearl Buzzsaw c carbite lightly polished for medium heavy
Demolition zone polished for medium light
Eraser highly polished for dry

I really do not have anything to add to all the raving reviews about the buzzsaw line.  It is my first and not my last.

It has the smallest backend pop and least angle entry into the pocket than all my balls but it plows thru the pins, no deflection at all.  This ball is the hardest hitter in my lineup.  Very easy to controll and kills carrydown.

Greatness

Hey everyone, whats up?  I finally think i'm able to post a review about this ball.  The pin is drilled next to the fingers.  thats all i know about the drilling.  Sorry.  Well anyway i've been bowling in houses with lots of oil and lots of carrydown.  I have the apex aggression but the person who drilled it drilled it like my adrenaline that needs dry backends.  With the Pearl Carbide, with oil and carrydown, I am able to move outside and play straight up 5 and boom. I'm working on my timing right now standing back more and trying to get my arm swing corrected.  SO now i have lots of more speed then I use to have and when i hit pocket, boooooom!!!!!  Occasionaly i'll leave a 4 pin or a 7 or 10 pin.  I think this ball needs oil and no dry backend.  With dry backend, it hooks too much.  If dry backend, I go to my cherry buzzsaw or my xl buzzsaw.  I love throwing all buzzsaws and use to throw ebonite.  Big change from me.
