Review:
The Uranium HRG clears the heads and mid-lane with ease. Once it gets to the breakpoint, look out. The HRG is the most angular Lane #1 ball I have thrown. People have said the Cherry Bomb was very angular and I agree. The HRG is a more controlled angular movement than the Cherry Bomb, however it is a very aggressive movement towards the pocket. One of the surprising things about the HRG is that it keeps the pins very low increasing the pin carry. Yes, the Uranium HRG HITS HARDER than any Lane #1 ball I have thrown to date.

Comparison Between My Current Equipment and Uranium HRG
Cobalt Solid turns around 40 foot mark where HRG turns around 50 foot mark.
HRG covers 5-8 more boards total

Cobalt Pearl breakpoint around 45-48 foot mark
HRG flips harder and covers about 10-12 more boards for me

Threw the HRG in practice and got too much length out of it so started with the Enriched Uranium as that hooks up earlier for heavier patterns. Started with the Enriched Uranium for first game to open up the lanes. The Enriched was starting to hook up a little too early for me so went to the HRG in the fill ball in the tenth. Went a little straighter with less hand and got great results. This ball has the best carry I’ve seen from Lane #1 yet! I left two 7 pins which I believe where the 5 pin that got re-spotted from the pin action. Too much carrydown with this ball and it will go too long and not recover. The HRG fits nicely in the current Lane #1 lineup.

Summary:
The Uranium HRG has the most length and defined turn of any current Lane #1 ball in production. The HRG clears the front part of the lane with ease will recovering from spots it shouldn’t. I’ve sailed balls to the ditch and they have recovered with tremendous pin action. Shots like that which I normally leave a 2-8-10 were sending messengers leaving only the 2 pin. I can not push how low the pins stay with the HRG increasing the pin carry. The new coverstock compliments the Diamond Core by creating a very angular ball.

THIS IS THE HARDEST HITTING LANE #1 BALL TO DATE!!!!!!

Any one needing a ball for a medium to light condition. All I can say is "what a ball". I drilled my ball 4" pap, with my MB in the VAL. I like balls that roll a little more forward. On heavy oil it wasnt very good but it is a pearl HRG ball. On a medium and light oil condition this ball is a wrecking machine. While everyone is moving left all I have to do is pull the HRG out and keep on trucking. Exceptionally clean through the heads and in the middle part of the lane, when it gets to the back it is a joy to watch. Hits like a MACK truck and keeps on driving. I recomend this ball to alot of people that are looking for a ball that will get through the front and mids with ease.

Pattern: 35' top hat buffed to 40' Medium Units. (THS)

1st Shift: Standing 22 and using normal release with med revs, targeting 12 at the arrows and breakpoint of 4 off of the top hat, this ball gets great length and makes a noticeable but smooth move off of the top hat. Carry is excellent and pin action is good. As set progresses, normal moves are generally easy and readable as this ball doesn't just jump off the dry. Carrydown does effect this ball and I was forced to move inside of the carrydown or go around it which was still pretty easy given this balls great recovery..

2nd shift: Standing 27 and targeting 15 at the arrows and 7 at the breakpoint, this ball was simple to move deeper than the first set with the same release and ball speed/revs. Still continued to get great length and but retain energy for the backend move off of the top hat to drive through the pin deck. This was the balls best use in my opinion as the breakdown began to dmeand moves from other equipment, this ball maintained it's controlability.

Likes: This ball is great for it's smoothness and controlability. Opening the lanes is great with this ball as the lanes breakdown as it's length and turn are great. Carry is great as expected.

Dislikes: Most bowlers will have to adjust for the carrydown that effects this ball but it can be played deeper inside and will go around the carrydown also.

Comments: Perfect ball for Medium to Light-Med conditions. Have thrown this ball about 10 games to date. Definately a must for bowlers looking for smoothness and versatility.

I laid the HRG out to compare it to my Solid Cobalt Bomb, 4 1/4" x  3 3/8" to my PAP.  This is what every bowler wants, a ball that goes long and hooks a ton on the backend.  I got a very clean move through the fronts and midlane and a violent move on the backend.  I believe that the HRG will compliment any of the hook monsters that are already in the Lane #1 lineup very well, especially the new G-Force.  I think the move to Columbia 300 for production will give Lane #1 fans something different, and will surely still love.

Dislikes: Gets a little squirty on heavier oil patterns but this ball was not intended for heavy oil.

I have always been a big fan of Lane #1 so when I decided I needed a new medium-dry lane ball the Uranium HRG fit the bill. I picked one with about a three inch pin and a top weight of 3 ounces. I placed the pin above my bridge and kicked the CG out about an inch from the center of my span. My PAP is 4 3/4" right and 1/2 inch up.

I decided to try this ball after a couple of leagues had bowled so the heads would be dry and I would have some carry down. I started playing my regular shot which is about 25 out to 10. The Uranium HRG cleared the heads with ease and made a very strong move on the backend. I was surpried at how well this ball carried. Light hits, flush and high shots all carried withregilarity and the energy it delivered to the pocket was excellent. I was amazed at how cleanly it got through and still made a nice move on the carrydown. For comparison I got out my SR300 and Black Widow Pearl. The Sr300 cleared the heads pretty good but rolled up early in the midlane.and rolled out and left a couple flat tens. The Widow Pearl also cleared the heads but overhooked on the backend.

Overall I am very pleased with the Lane #1 Uranium HRG. It reacts exactly as advertised. If you want something for medium-light oil with enough pop to get through some carrydown then you should seriosly consider this ball.

Bought a low-traffic ball used off a member here with the idea of playing dry lanes late in a league shift.

Unfortunately, I did not find this ball suited to the task. But I did find it much better suited for medium-light than my G-Force Evolution, and not nearly as oil-allergic as that ball. So it has found a place in my arsenal all the same.

The high-RG nature of this ball is no joke. It lopes through the heads nicely and picks up in the backend. What keeps this ball from being a light-oil ball in my hands is that once it picks up, it really picks up. Also, with the drill pattern that is on it, the pin falls fairly close to my VAL, and high pins close to my VAL tend to be super-aggressive for me downlane. This ball is no exception.

Perhaps its best attribute is energy storage. I find Lane #1 balls to, almost without exception, carry at an above-average level for my game. This ball is on the upper end of THAT range.

The best part is its lack of over/under. I've had a problem with high-RG equipment in the past being too inconsistent, and sometimes not wanting to transition from a "lope" stage to an actual roll and drive. The Uranium HRG does not suffer from this malady.

I would caution about trying to use this ball to play in the oil (it isn't built for that task, anyway) or thinking that it's OK to throw on toasted lanes. True toast will cause this ball to over-react. It's stronger than you might expect. A summary follows:

The good: Major-league carry, stronger than advertised, more versatile than many Lane #1 balls and most higher-RG balls.

The bad: If it's built for dry, Lane #1 didn't hit the target.

Overall: A great piece for lighter mediums and a must-have if you're building an all-Lane #1 arsenal.
