My second Carbide+:
Layout (roughly):
.O__O
.....PIN
....CG
.....
....
..O
Style:
Stroker 13-15mphs med revs
Ball:
15lbs, 1"pin 3/4 finger 3/8 sideweight
OOb with handpolish (just a tad... no shine!)
Condition A:
38ft, broader THS with more oil
Best line:
over 10 out... almost down and in
Reaction:
the ball grabs the lane early and has a smooth transition down the lane and shows a nice smooth arc but has not the
oil-eater-capabilities as expected. I rate it a med-med-heavy ball. Not the oiler it was meant to be.
Fresh lanes: good reaction. Controllable 9/10
slightly worn: Ball starts to burn up. Moving deeper with this layout is not giving room for outside misses but still works
Worn'n'torn: Forget it! The soft Coverstock with the higher particle load needs oil nevertheless
Conclusion:
I wanted a controllable predictable ball with a strong midlane but not rolling too early and got it. I would have liked it
to be stronger overall but it is good as it is
Condition B:
36ft narrow THS with good headoil but lighter midlane and sqeaky dry backends. Outer 7 not oiled and bone dry
Best line:
play around 15 at the arrows not more out than 10 and mind the speed.
Reaction:
Outside shots burn up and carry suffers Inside missed shots means brookly or noseshot. This ball moves!
Again nice smooth transition through the midlane into a very strong backend with tendency to burn up.
Speed is important - then it rips... it will make its move then if slightly missed outside.
Fresh lanes: Playable with good result for maybe 4 games... maybe more if one can get deeper with more backend... I am working on that and the ball works even then
slightly worn: On those lanes it gets tricky finding the oil for this ball. Can be played but really tends to burn up too
early
Worn'n'torn: Are you kidding me?
Overall I give the ball out of 10:
8 for versatility... could be better .. layout is the thing I guess. It does not like too much oil and tends to skid then.
9 for roll and ability to handle carrydown - I wanted this
0 backend... this ball has almost no real backend for me
9/10 for impact into the pins
light hits carry better than heavy ones
This ball is interesting as I already have seen with my first C+ but now it has the midlane the old on lacked and needed to
adjust the coverstock back then. This time it's not necessary. And as the Coverstock is really soft keeping the ball dull
is a pain... I can see the track getting shiny already... but as long as it works.. why bother.
Sumup:
Strong midlane
Good on oilier but not on too oily conditions and
Very good handling carrydown.
Smooth.
