I'm proud to be the first person to review this bad boy. Here goes:

15lbs 4 oz.
4.2 oz top
Drilled pin next to ring, cg kicked slightly toward pap, very large, deep weight hole on pap to bring back to legal
Light shine applied with finishing compound

The condition I tested this on was a THS that was worn over from league the night before. When fresh, the shot was medium heavy most of the way down with clean backends. The conditioner that they use at this house does not really break down or move a whole bunch, so the shot was pretty much the same as league.

I moved around the lane quite a bit and tried out several hand positions, all with solid success. This ball will need oil in the heads and mids in order to be effective. The move it makes is very noticeable, but still controllable. I think that people who like the pearl version for mediums will love the solid for heavier patterns. I didn't try it in box condition, but it appears that it would only be useable on very heavy stuff if you keep it that way. Polished, this ball will offer good length and nasty strong backend on heavier mediums. When compared side by side with my highly polished Anomaly (stacked), the Uranium moved earlier and smoother with a similar amount of overall backend. The Uranium, however, appears to be able to handle more oil, and the hit is lights out. Obviously, I don't have enough time in on this one to know exactly what I've got, but the ball looks great so far. I think Sawheads are going to really love this one for the heavy juice.

P.S. The ball looks great also. Lane 1's color mixing is really awesome!

What's happening. I am the second poster for this unbeleivable SAW. :   I got this bad boy drilled up 3 3/8 stacked label. Something simple for an already awesome piece. First night out of the box i shoot 226 and 245 for two games. I put it away because the lanes broke down fast. I used it in my Mens league on Sunday morning and shot 687. (operator error). I have to say this ball saved my butt on a few bad shots, but when i threw it right it just exploded the pins in the rack leaving nothing on the deck. This ball reads the midlanes well and just comes through the backend without flinching. All i can say is i'll have another one just like it real soon....>>>>>>>>>>>THERE IS ONLY LANE #1.

I'm a beginner bowler with a measly 170 average.  I have heard many good things about Lane # 1 so I decided to give them a shot.  I purchased a 16lbs Uranium Solid from the good folks at blockbusterbowling.com.   I just got the ball drilled this past weekend  with label at 1:30 (as recommended by Mr Buzzsaw in the Lane # 1 forum) At first the ball hook way too much for me. I'm just a basic down and in bowler, nothing fancy. So I polished it up and bowled with it tonight in our Scratch League.  The lanes here are wood with medium oil.  The ball is totally freaking awesome!!!!  My scores were 254, 222, 224 for an even 700 series.  What a nice first impression.  I just hope it's not just a fluke.  I will post a follow up review later on down the road to provide an update of my progress with this new ball.

I've been out of bowling for about 6 years, have been averaging 188 with 6 year old equipment. I just bought this ball, my two series are 686, 699.
This ball has a strong roll, I have it dulled up, planning to use it heavy oil situations. The first series was on medium lanes, shot 29-12. Explodes the pins! The second heavy oil tournament, shot 19-8. This ball will give you alot of versatility, plus you can polish or dull it. The great thing with it is, you will not get any surprises on back end reaction, it moves with a strong arc. My set up is for some length, I used the lane one drilling pattern that is for maximum leverage. My speed is around 15mph, if you are a high speed thrower, I think you will want an slightly early rolling ball set up. Good luck!

The best ball I have owned and I think it is the best ball made. This ball crushes the pocket and the pins constantly. The ball is sanded to 400 grit and the setup is like this.

-----0-0-------
-------o-------
-----x---------
------O--------
This ball hooks soo much and I also had a weight hole taken out of it. Hands down, I think this is the best ball made.

Info:
PAP 5" over and 1/4" up
Speed: 15-16mph (Very versitile)
Revs: Versitile (Low to high)

PreDrill Specs:
14lbs. 4oz.
3" pin 2.4oz top

Drilling:
Pin under Ring CG Out with Bomb at 11 o'clock and 5 o'clock. X-Hole near thumb quadrant. (See Pic Link) Recommended by Lane #1 Rep.

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l49/BuzzsawDemons/Lane%201%20Arsenal/Lane1Arsenal005-1.jpg

Ending Specs:
1/2 oz side
1/2 oz finger

Surface: Box Finish

Lanes: ProAnvil Synthetics

Pattern: 35' top hat buffed to 40' Heavy Units. (THS double ran at the heads)

1st Shift: Standing 25 and using normal release with med revs, targeting 17 at the arrows and breakpoint of 6 off of the top hat, this ball is very uncertain in it's movements for me. Carry is above average and it keeps the pins very low but active when it hits the pocket. As set progresses, normal moves are generally hard as this ball doesn't handle this condition very well for me. If the heads or mids are slightly dry, this ball will check up early but carrydown seems to make the ball lose turn on the backend. I generally have to move farther right with this ball which is not a problem, but then I still find inconsistency in it's reaction area.

2nd shift: Standing 35 and targeting 23 at the arrows and 10 at the breakpoint, this ball checked up way too early and if I tried to play it farther out or with more speed, it was easy to throw through the breakpoint, especially if it caught oil near the breakpoint. Ball would lose energy very easily.  Deeper angles showed a little better result if I kept the ball tight inside like the PBA Shark pattern requires. However, this ball completely surprised me for what I expected.

Likes: Good looking ball. Decent hit when it got to the pocket.
Dislikes: Cover seems to hold oil at the surface quite heavily. Reaction was difficult to read with carrydown and dry mids effecting the ball variously.

Rating: 6.5

Comments: Not sure if it's a matchup problem with this ball but this is the 2nd one I have had mixed results with. Expectations are not as I had hoped but if you can get it to the pocket consistently, the carry is good. May call it the end of the Solid Uranium experiment and try something else.

I bowl on lanes that are heavily oiled and this ball never really worked for me. I've tried sanding with various grits and even polishing this ball.  I could always find the pocket okay, but the Solid Uranium never really had the move that I look for in a reactive ball.  I probably just don't have enough revs to make this ball move as advertised.  The video of this ball on the Lane #1 website showed the guy throwing with a pretty high rev rate.  My wife has three Lane #1 balls (Uranium, Tsunami, and Cobalt Bomb) and they all work well for her even though she has a fairly slow rev rate.  I guess I just don't match up well with Lane #1's equipment.

I think I am the unofficial BR resident expert on this ball.  I am always hyping it on the Lane #1 forum, so maybe it is time to do a review of it.

I have had two of these babies.  I threw the first one for around 150-200 games then traded it away.  I liked the layout and the reaction it gave me so much that when I got a second Solid Uranium, I put the same layout on it.

It is drilled label leverage, pin 3 3/8 from PAP.  My new one has a 4 5/8 pin, so the pin ended up pretty high above and right of the ring finger hole.

One of the first things to know about this ball is that it likes to track high.  In fact, this has been discussed at length on the Lane #1 boards here at BR but I don't recall anyone articulating a reason that this happens that makes sense to me.  Nonetheless, it tracks high; so much so that in my case the track can become inverted!

The next thing you need to know is that in my opinion, the matchup of cover and core is one of the best I have ever seen.  For my game (350-375 rpm, 17 mph, PAP 5 over and 1/2 up on most other balls) and the conditions I see (heavy mediums on synthetics, crown patterns usually in the 39-42 ft range) it is a match made in heaven.  Activator Solid + dense Uranium diamond core= big scores if you have enough oil.

This ball gets surpising length considering the dull finish it has (800 grit) OOB.  With the label layout I have on it and the longer pin out, it actually likes to pop a little on the back.  Compared to my Scorchin' Inferno, Strike Zone, and Awesome Hook, only the Strike Zone goes longer and is more angular.

Of course angular is a relative term, keep in mind this baby is designed to pick up a heavy roll, but it does save enough energy that you can swing it a little easier than you can with the Scorchin' or the Awesome Hook.  The hit and carry are what I would consider well above average, but the cover is grabby enough that you really have to be watching for signs of burning up when the lanes transition and stay in the oil as much as you can.

I shot my first 800 with this ball (806) and the predictability of reaction is such that I use this ball as my benchmark ball.  Solids usually perform far better for me in this area than do pearls, which are relegated to 2nd shift duty most nights.

I have also had success with this ball on the PBA patterns, notably the Shark pattern.  In that circumstance you want a ball that gives you proper feedback as to what the lanes are giving you, as well as how you are throwing the ball, and the Solid Uranium does that.  You can bet that if you throw this ball poorly, you will know it, and you will be equally rewarded if you throw it well.  I say this with my Black Widow in mind, where it feels like no matter how poorly I release it off of my hand or in what position my wrist is in, it will still come screaming back as soon as it hits dry.  Not the SU; it has made me a better bowler because it gives great feedback as to how I am releasing it, and reacts accordingly.

This ball responds well to the hot water bath treatment.  I recently performed the treatment on this ball and it came ALL the way back to its original reaction after 150-ish games.  It had just started to have a noticeable loss of reaction at that point.  Just like new and worked like a champ after a nice bath.

It is a bonus that this is one great looking ball.  Black and blue reminds me of how the pins must feel after the Solid Uranium is done with them.  This is my favorite ball of all time, and I have thrown quite a few from different companies.  If you want power and predictability, as well as durability, look no further.

Just picked this ball up from the shop after being plugged to fit my span. Have it drilled pin under ring and cg on grip line just above thumb. After trying it out on worn out wood lanes, i wasnt too impressed and was wondering if i made a mistake. Shot today in my travel league in which we bowl EOW and we bowl 6 games. Well, this week we bowled on high scoring synthetics at AMF Sparetime lanes in Arlington, TX. Deciding in practice that i wanted to start with this ball, i was getting a nice smooth reaction with a little snap on the BE. I have to say that the carry from this ball is phenomenal as with all of the Lane 1 equipment is. Between the 6 games i bowled with this ball, I made small adjustments, only 3 boards all day with my feet. First set shot 257-279-225=761. Second set shot 236-247-266=749. 1510 for 6 games.

Self:
Right-handed tweener
High track
300+ rpm
High axis rotation (moderate tilt)

Ball:
15lbs
2" pin
Lightly polished

Drilling:
Pin 2.5" from PAP
CG below towards palm
Large weighthole

Reaction:
I've had the Solid Uranium for about a year now. I had it drilled with a semi-pin axis layout, pin about 2.5" from my PAP. One word describes the reaction: smooth. I had the expectations of a fairly strong ball because of the strong core, strong cover combination but I was slightly wrong in my logic. This ball gets downlane better than most other pearl I have and delivers one of the smoothest ball motions I have yet to see. The semi-axis drilling gets the ball revving up fast and early but simply does nothing until it hits enough dry. I have seen my fairshare of "burning up" with oilers and I have to say this ball is not doing so. In fact, I often find myself playing up the boards even on a house shot - places I normally never play given my revs and high order of rotation.

Carry never seems to be a problem with Lane1 equipment and this ball sees to that. Even with minimal entry angle generated, the Solid carries light hits with the best of them. Dead flush, forget about it. The ball, while extremely smooth, is a powerhouse at the pins. The coverstock is also very durable. Almost no harm has come to it over the course of a year amidst the minor, to be expected wear and tear. If your looking for a very smooth ball for fighting flying backends or controlling the breakpoint on more difficult shots, this ball is money. I think the smooth nature of the ball coupled with the semi-pin axis drilling, compliment each other very well. A solid performer when control is required. 9/10
